Mushroom Farming Enriches Fellow Villagers as Wang Hongkui Blazes a New Trail to Prosperity
Tens of thousands of black-and-white "tree stumps" stand tall and graceful, and one plump, tender oyster mushroom after another bursts through the film, delicate and fresh. Thanks to their mushroom-growing "craft," the farmers of Fuli Village, Daxing Town, Dongfeng County, increase their income by more than 100,000 yuan every year and have embarked on the broad road to wealth.
Wang Hongkui told the reporter: "A few years ago, my family's income was limited. To earn a little more, I went to the market to sell vegetables and found that oyster mushrooms sold quite well and fetched a good price, so I started thinking about developing this project." Bold enough to dream and to act, he learned through on-site visits that growing oyster mushrooms has the advantages of small investment, short time, stable prices and quick returns; it not only does not conflict with the farming season, but also brings considerable income. So he raised 300,000 yuan and built 3 oyster mushroom greenhouses one after another. Each oyster mushroom greenhouse can hold more than 20,000 mushroom logs, and the 3 greenhouses can produce 150,000 jin of oyster mushrooms a year, with annual net profit reaching more than 100,000 yuan.
Oyster mushrooms are rich in nutrients, delicious in taste and very "people-friendly" in price, making them a popular delicacy on dinner tables and a good project for getting rich. In order to help more fellow villagers prosper, Wang Hongkui continuously passed on the skills he had mastered to everyone... Driven by him, Qiu Liangjun of Group 8, Chaoyang Village, Daxing Town, also took up oyster mushroom cultivation and established the Dongfeng County Mingyang Edible Fungus Cultivation Professional Cooperative, earning his first pot of gold in entrepreneurship. Speaking of the help his "master" gave him, he said: "Learning oyster mushroom cultivation techniques from Teacher Wang, he really comes whenever called and holds nothing back. From making the spawn and management to harvesting, he taught me everything hand by hand. Last year I grew more than 30,000 bags, and after deducting costs I could earn more than 70,000 yuan. Life is much better than before."
Diligence paves the road to wealth, and hard work draws money from the soil. Along the way, Wang Hongkui has been full of confidence. Speaking of his next plans, he intends to promote this cultivation technique so that more villagers can embark on the road to prosperity.
