Raising black pigs set Wang Haiying on the road to prosperity
When people mention Wang Haiying, the champion of black pig farming, many are impressed by her tenacious perseverance. From 2005, when she earned her first bucket of gold on the road to wealth, she went through several ups and downs, and now her annual pig slaughter exceeds a thousand head.
Walking into Daishan Village, the black pig breeding base at the entrance of the village can be seen from afar, and Wang Haiying is busy in the pig sheds. This rural woman, who has only a fourth-grade primary school education, has become a capable woman who has made her fortune in Gucheng. Before raising pigs, Wang Haiying tried many jobs one after another, but none allowed her to realize her dream of becoming prosperous. After many setbacks, by a chance opportunity, she learned that the market potential for black pig farming in Gucheng was great, and she resolutely decided to develop her own black pig farming business in her hometown. Just after the New Year in 2005, she rented a 350 sq m site and used all her savings to buy 6 sows and a batch of piglets. Through her own efforts, she achieved a net income of 60,000 yuan that same year.
The next year, having had a first taste of success, Wang Haiying successively bought 20 more sows and 100 piglets, preparing to go all out. However, a sudden outbreak of swine high fever dealt a heavy blow to Wang Haiying's black pig farming. The 112 black pigs in the pens waiting to be sold died one after another, and 4 sows about to give birth also could not escape disaster, with direct economic losses of nearly 200,000 yuan. The sudden turn of events did not crush her, but instead strengthened her determination to continue raising pigs. With the coordination of the village secretary, Wang Haiying obtained a 100,000 yuan loan from a rural microcredit program, and under the doubtful gazes of those around her, she once again set foot on the path of pig farming. This time, she learned the lesson from previously focusing only on management and neglecting prevention, which had led to economic losses. While strengthening her studies, she carefully observed the habits of the pigs and accumulated knowledge of prevention and control. Wang Haiying's black pig farming gradually got on track, and her business prospered day by day. Today, nearly a thousand black pigs are slaughtered each year.
Wang Haiying, whose business was thriving, did not stop moving forward. Starting last year, she set her farming target on the poultry industry, contracted a piece of land at the Daishan Lake Forest Farm to begin trying three-dimensional farming, used the hillside to raise goats, and raised chickens, ducks, geese and other poultry in the low-lying valley areas, once again setting free her "farming dream."
With a tenacious spirit, Wang Haiying started from nothing and embarked on a road to prosperity through scientific and large-scale farming.
