Party branch of Guoyuan Village, Renshou, Sichuan, joins hands with e-commerce to help farmers get rich
On March 28, Zhang Meichun, a villager from Group 5 of Guoyuan Village, Baofei Town, Renshou County, hurried home excitedly. He had just received a phone call: his daughter-in-law had received another online order and asked him to hurry home to pack a few boxes of blood oranges. Moving the market onto the internet, what is sold is fruit, but what changes is mindset. Bringing the internet into rural areas, doing business at home, taking orders online, every household benefits.

Walking into today's Guoyuan Village, it is hard to see the old scene of people carrying fruit on shoulder poles and hawking it. Instead, many villagers sit at home with a computer or a mobile phone, selling fruit online.
"Online flash sales are too fierce. So much sold in one hour, equivalent to what I used to sell in a week." Speaking of the hot scene of selling oranges online during the Spring Festival, Wang Jiaxing, director of Guoyuan Village and a major fruit-growing household, still savors it endlessly. During the Spring Festival, Guoyuan Village's oranges were sold in online flash sales, with 12756 orders in one day, and more than 6 wan jin of oranges sold, which kept the villagers extremely busy. Inspecting fruit, stacking boxes, pasting labels, loading trucks, the village looked just like a large e-commerce market.
"In the past, when vendors came to buy fruit, they would still force the price down. They said whatever price per jin, and it was that price per jin. The fruit simply could not sell for a good price. With this internet, selling fruit is just too great. Without even stepping outside our doors, we can sell all the fruit, and the price is satisfying too," Wang Jiaxing said.
Wang Jiaxing was the first person in the village to come into contact with the internet and engage in online sales. Ever since Wang Jiaxing was elected director of Guoyuan Village, he had been thinking about how to let the villagers get rich through industry. After round after round of industrial restructuring, fruit planting in Guoyuan Village gradually achieved variety improvement, and fruit output rose year after year.
In order to broaden sales channels, Guoyuan Village established a fruit association to specifically address fruit growers' planting, management and sales problems. After village director Wang Jiaxing became president of the association, every year he had to find ways, ask for connections, and look up acquaintances to contact out-of-town merchants to come and purchase the village's fruit.
Good growing is the foundation, good selling is the key. A large amount of fruit could not be sold, and watching one bright, fresh orange after another rot in the fields not only pained the masses, but also made the village's two committees extremely anxious. By a chance opportunity, Wang Jiaxing came into contact with online sales and got a taste of the benefits of e-commerce. Wang Jiaxing told village Party branch secretary Wang Xiangjiu about his gains. After discussion between the two, and after countless village committee discussions. In order to expand sales channels, with the help of the town government, the village Party branch introduced Renshou's e-commerce platform Ganchang Xiaozhan, which settled in Guoyuan Village. Combining the role of Party members, the village Party branch explored and created the "Party branch + e-commerce + farmers" development model, fully leveraging the Party organization's pioneering guidance and Party members' leading and exemplary role, and relying on the internet platform to bring Guoyuan Village's agricultural products to all parts of the country.
Ganchang Xiaozhan also specially opened an e-commerce platform for Guoyuan Village, registered a professional trademark, unified exquisite packaging, and used the online platform for external promotion. In a very short time, it established Guoyuan Village's fruit brand and set off an online buying rush for Guoyuan Village's Tarocco blood oranges.
To help fruit growers master e-commerce knowledge, the Party branch of Guoyuan Village struck while the iron was hot, fully leveraging the role of Party members, and carried out "help and support" activities among Party members, with Party members helping and guiding other fruit growers to sell on e-commerce platforms, and helping pass on e-commerce knowledge to fruit growers. The village promoted and popularized the project of installing internet connections in households. The villagers, having tasted the benefits, warmly welcomed the internet. In just a few short months, the village's household internet penetration rate reached more than 80%.
Online teaching, online communication, online training, online sales, online shopping... Today's Guoyuan Village has already entered the digital age.
