Song Huitu of Chini Town, Huadu District, Guangzhou Leads All the Women in the Village to Prosper Together
In 2001, Song Huitu and her husband contracted 850 mu of barren mountain land with sparse vegetation beside Jinxing Ridge in Lantian Village, Chini Town, Huadu District, to plant economic forests, flowers and trees, and landscaping trees. After several years of afforestation, the former barren hills became fertile soil. After becoming prosperous herself, she did not forget to lead all the women in the village to prosper together.
850 mu of barren mountain land becomes fertile soil
Driving more than a hundred women into employment
Zhihui Farm is located in Lantian Village, Chini Town, Huadu District, near the banks of the Bajiang River, a tributary of the Pearl River. The farm was registered and established in October 2006. At that time, Song Huitu and her husband contracted 850 mu of barren mountain land with sparse vegetation beside Jinxing Ridge in the Zhongdong section of Lantian Village, planting economic forests, flowers and trees, and landscaping trees. After several years of afforestation, they turned the former barren hills into fertile soil, and the flower and tree farm became shaded with green trees and full of vitality. At present, the farm has a total area of 990 mu and has driven more than 130 women into employment.
In 2007, under the guidance of the Chini Town Agricultural Office, the farm adjusted its planting structure and introduced the cultivation of black peanut varieties. After trial planting and promotion, once the products reached the market, they were deeply loved by people, and demand grew greater and greater. In order to better develop this product, the farm, on the basis of continuously improving planting technology, expanded the planting scale to 350 mu, invested funds to carry out unified renovation and upgrading of the base, and gradually improved the base's infrastructure such as water, electricity, road network, and irrigation and drainage, providing an excellent planting environment for black peanut production, with annual sales reaching 1.2 million yuan.
Innovating and developing a new model
Creating a new tourism hotspot
The company adopted the "company + base + farmers" model of operation. Each year, according to market sales conditions, it guides and arranges farmers to carry out planned planting, drives villagers to start businesses, and increases farmers' income. The company promises farmers to provide seeds, technical guidance, product pricing and buyback, and to sign franchise agreements. At present, the base has developed 35 farming households onto the entrepreneurial path of planting black peanuts, driving 180 nearby rural laborers into employment.
After the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, Song Huitu and her husband's market management ideas were further inspired. The couple boldly innovated and, on the basis of the "farm + base + farmers" development model, vigorously developed high-yield, high-quality, and high-efficiency agriculture. They began investigating and studying the dynamics of market economic development, and according to their own advantageous resource conditions, sketched out a blueprint for an ecological park integrating seedling production, sightseeing experiences, popular science learning, and leisure and entertainment: the project's overall planned area is 1,500 mu, and in March 2013 a contract for 900 mu was signed, with 2.6 million yuan invested to plant 310 mu of ornamental flowering seedlings such as yellow ipê, international wild peony, crape myrtle, Bauhinia variegata, and Jacaranda mimosifolia.
