Taiwanese Xiao Juncheng has lived on the mainland for 15 years. For the first 8 years, he was a senior executive at a foreign IT company with an annual salary of one million yuan, but for the next 7 years, he devoted himself entirely to growing vegetables in the busy downtown area of Beijing. In 2013, he founded the "plant factory" in the CBD, where high-rise buildings stand and land is extremely expensive. This "vegetable plot" located in the underground space of a high-end office building on East Third Ring Road is about 50 sq m. In the narrow and long space, rows of four-layer-high shelves are neatly placed, and vegetables are grown through direct-current cold-light LED lighting and flowing nutrient solution, with 1,000 jin of fresh vegetables harvested each month. This "vegetable plot" in the CBD is a small part of the "plant factory". In Guogongzhuang, Fengtai District, Xiao Juncheng built a larger "vegetable plot" in an abandoned factory building, using dust-free workshop production, and it is the mass-production base of the "plant factory". In the sealed space, the "plant factory" gets rid of soil pollution, water pollution and air pollution, ensuring the quality of the vegetables. Due to the demonstration effect of successfully growing vegetables in the central CBD area, more and more enterprises, office buildings, restaurants and families are coming to seek cooperation, and Xiao Juncheng's "plant factory" is constantly growing. According to him, the company currently invests a large amount of funds in technological research and development and already owns more than 100 domestic and foreign technical patents. His team will be committed to building more production bases so that people can enjoy healthy and pollution-free vegetables.
