110 mu of fruit and vegetable greenhouses managed with ease

"Since attending the new-type professional farmer training course, I've completely transformed myself." Recently, Li Xuezeng, who lives in Li'anzhuang Village, Dongcheng Subdistrict, Shenqiu County, said with emotion when talking about the changes after attending the new-type professional farmer training "incubation" program twice.

As early as 5 years ago, the quick-witted Li Xuezeng saw that growing vegetables could make money, and immediately built two small vegetable greenhouses. Every harvest season, he would rise early and stay up late riding a tricycle to haul vegetables to the market, which was time-consuming and laborious and did not earn him much money.

It was not until these past two years, after he successively attended the new-type professional farmer training courses organized by the city and county, that he gained unexpected rewards.

"Planting relies not only on technique; you also have to know how to manage, understand sales, and understand market demand." Through expert explanations in the training classes and field visits to agricultural demonstration parks elsewhere to "learn from experience," Li Xuezeng recognized the "problems" and "shortcomings" in his own planting.

In the following two years, Li Xuezeng carefully investigated market demand, invested in 12 new greenhouses, and established a vegetable family farm. In addition to growing vegetables, he also added varieties such as nectarine, grape, Japanese melon, and watermelon. The products not only supply local and surrounding farmers' markets, but also established direct farm-to-supermarket connections.

With technique in planting, experience in management, and channels for sales, Li Xuezeng, who now manages 110 mu of fruit and vegetable greenhouses and has obtained new-type professional farmer qualifications, can be said to handle things with ease and has become a well-known local capable person who started a business and became rich.

"Getting rich alone doesn't count as being rich; only when all the fellow villagers get rich does it count as being rich." To fulfill this promise, Li Xuezeng always imparts techniques to everyone without reservation. Under his leadership and guidance, more than 30 households of people in the surrounding area have developed greenhouse vegetable and fruit tree planting, directly increasing income by more than 5 million yuan, and 13 poor households have taken off their "poverty hats."
