On April 18, at the Changxizi ship conversion dock in Yunyang, Chongqing, several passenger ships were undergoing conversion.

Recently, the "passenger-to-cargo" conversion of ships in the Three Gorges reservoir area kicked off, and it is expected that the conversion of over a hundred ships will be completed successively over the next 3 years. With changes in the transportation landscape and improvements in the travel environment of the reservoir area, Three Gorges water passenger transport is gradually withdrawing from the market. Water transport enterprises in the reservoir area, through mergers, auctions and joint-stock reform, are comprehensively advancing the "passenger-to-cargo" conversion of passenger ships, bringing idle resources back to life.
