During this short holiday, the city's weather was like a roller coaster. The highest daytime temperature on April 30 reached 31.5°C, while the highest daytime temperature on May 2 dropped to 15.8°C. Not only that, from the evening of the 1st to the afternoon of the 2nd, the city also saw widespread moderate rain, and a clear snowfall process occurred at Ling Mountain in Mentougou.
The Municipal Meteorological Observatory announced at 15:00 yesterday that from 18:00 on May 1 to 19:00 on May 2, the citywide average precipitation reached 15.1 mm, reaching the moderate rain level; the northeast region was higher, averaging 18.1 mm; the maximum precipitation appeared at Baicaopan in Fangshan District, reaching 84 mm, reaching the torrential rain level. During the rainfall, a level 4 to 5 north wind blew continuously, and residents going out felt a relatively low temperature. At Ling Mountain in Mentougou, due to the high altitude, a local snowfall microclimate appeared, with obvious snowfall, and snow could be seen covering the slopes.
The rainfall brought traffic inconvenience to people traveling during the holiday, but for agricultural production, it was a welcome spring rain. Zhou Jihong, an agricultural expert at the Municipal Agricultural Technology Extension Station, said that in March and April this year, the city had little precipitation, and soil moisture showed drought conditions. At present, wheat has just entered the heading stage and is in need of water supplementation. This obvious precipitation is beneficial for wheat heading and grain retention.
According to the latest weather forecast, the city will welcome another rainfall process on May 4, but it will have little impact on temperature. On the 5th, the highest daytime temperature will rise to 29°C, and the lowest nighttime temperature will rise to 18°C. Within this week, there will be two to three obvious north wind weather events, and residents going out should pay attention to weather changes at any time. (Reporter Gao Shanshan)
