College student village official uses WeChat to make cherries sell even better
As usual, yesterday morning, the first thing 28-year-old Fu Zishuai did after waking up was pick up his phone and post the link to the "Qiaomengou Village Cherry Picking Garden" on his WeChat Moments. The whole motion was done in one smooth flow, very skillfully. Not only that, whenever he had time, he would constantly check how many people were following the link and which friends had shared it, and every two or three hours, he would repost it so that his link would not get buried. It could be said that recently, posting the link had become Fu Zishuai's main job.
The reporter noticed that the link Fu Zishuai posted had 10 pages in total, and each page had exquisite cherry photos as well as beautiful text, paired with soothing and pleasant music, making people unable to resist wanting to go there. "This is my first time making a link," Fu Zishuai said with a trace of shyness when talking about it. In fact, even before posting the link, on May 3, facing the mouth-watering cherries, Fu Zishuai took 6 photos and added text to them, then posted them to his Moments. "This format is not convenient for everyone to share." After realizing this problem, Fu Zishuai decided to make a link.
On the evening of May 4, Fu Zishuai went to a friend's home to "learn from experience." After learning how, he selected 10 from more than 50 photos, carefully weighed every sentence, and finally produced the first version of the link in the early hours of May 6. "At that time it had 8 pages in total," Fu Zishuai said. To make it even more perfect, he sent the link to friends and asked them for suggestions. "Based on my friends' suggestions, I added an introduction to cherry varieties and the picking route," Fu Zishuai said. On May 8, the latest version of the link came out.
"Because time was tight, and it was my first time doing it, some parts are a bit rough," Fu Zishuai said. Next year he will make it earlier in advance, and also add some content about discounts.
Although Fu Zishuai posted the link every day, he did not annoy his friends. That is because, as the "college student village official" of Qiaomengou Village, Tongye Town, Luquan District, he was not selling his own product, but helping the village collective promote the cherry orchard. "In 2012, when the cherry trees had just been planted, I came to Qiaomengou Village and watched the cherry trees grow and bear fruit with my own eyes," Fu Zishuai said. The nearly 100 mu of cherry trees were like his own children. To help them grow strong, he and village officials together ran around for funding to dig wells and irrigate the land, searched online for information about cherries, and suggested how everyone should manage them. Now that the cherries were ripe, Fu Zishuai was again selling them online, "just like when a child grows up and knows to give back," Fu Zishuai said.
Now, the number of people going there through Moments to pick cherries was increasing day by day, and the village officials' faces were blooming with bright smiles. "We do not understand the internet very well, so we are especially grateful to Xiao Fu," said Wang Wuchen, director of the Qiaomengou Village Committee. At present, the cherry orchard is Qiaomengou Village's only village collective industry, and this year is the first year of picking. "Last weekend, 1,000 people came to pick, and some of them came after seeing Xiao Fu's WeChat," Wang Wuchen said. As cherries enter the full production period, and with Fu Zishuai's online sales, "income in the next two years will keep increasing."
If you want to go to Qiaomengou Village's "Fenglongshan Cherry Picking Sightseeing Garden," you can take Tourist Bus 2 from Jiefang Square in the city area and get off at Fenglongshan. From the Fenglongshan main gate, walk north about 300 meters and it is on the south side of the road; if you want to drive there yourself, just head in the direction of Fenglongshan. On Lvyou Road, about 300 meters from the Fenglongshan main gate, it is on the south side of the road.
