In early summer, the Shahu wetland in Ningxia, located in the frontier region of the northwest, welcomes its busiest tourist season of the year.

Amid the strange scenery of half sand and half lake, a team of tour guides is active, and with high-quality professional service they spread the most beautiful impression of this frontier region to every visitor. Tian Chunmei, selected as one of Ningxia's most beautiful tour guides of 2015, is one of them.

Tian Chunmei, 34 this year, began working as a full-time tour guide at the Shahu Scenic Area in 2007, and to date she has received more than 30,000 visitors.

Every morning, starting from the moment the first group of visitors enters the scenic area, Tian Chunmei takes up her post and begins her service. From the dock, Bird Island and the desert to the Wetland Museum, she must introduce every plant and tree of Shahu to visitors in detail along the whole route.

In order to better improve her service quality, Tian Chunmei gathered materials on the various birds inhabiting the Shahu wetland and studied them carefully. Today she knows all kinds of wildlife in the wetland as well as if counting her own treasures, and many visitors listen to her introductions with great interest.

"A tour guide's job looks like traveling among mountains and waters, but it is actually very hard." Tian Chunmei told reporters that May to September every year is the busiest time at the scenic area, and many visitors want to ride camels through the desert, so she can only wait for them under the scorching sun. "We often joke that the only thing missing between us and lamb skewers is a sprinkle of cumin!" Tian Chunmei said with a smile.

Even when it is hard, a smile remains Tian Chunmei's most basic requirement for herself. "A happy, sunny tour guide can make visitors' moods become as beautiful as the scenery!" Tian Chunmei said.
