As people's health awareness increases, Wuzhimaotao, a wild ingredient commonly used by Hakka people for making soup, is becoming more and more popular. In May, the 3000 mu of Wuzhimaotao planted in contiguous fields in Shui Zhu Village, Xihe Town, Dabu, had not yet begun to be harvested, but was already completely sold out by order.
A few days ago, the author followed the winding and rugged road, driving more than 30 km, to arrive at Shui Zhu Village, located deep in the mountains, and saw patches of Wuzhimaotao planted on both sides of the beautiful reservoir. Affected by last year's cold snap, these Wuzhimaotao have currently only grown tender branches and leaves, and each leaf has more than 5 serrations, just like five fingers spread apart. Among the tender branches and leaves, the thick large trunks that were frozen and cut can still be clearly seen. According to the person in charge of the base, although the branches and leaves of some Wuzhimaotao were damaged by frost, it does not affect the growth of the root system at all.
According to Chen Xiaoling, office director of Dabu Shiyuan Agricultural Ecology Co., Ltd., their Wuzhimaotao base is located in a selenium-rich belt, and the products have high selenium content and large market demand. At present, the base has established long-term supply and marketing relations with trading and pharmaceutical companies in Beijing, Gansu and other places. Although the 3000 mu of Wuzhimaotao can only be harvested in the second half of the year, it has already been fully booked by merchants. A single company in Beijing alone signed a sales contract with the base for 400 tons per year, with sales revenue reaching as high as 20 million yuan.
In recent years, Dabu Shiyuan Agricultural Ecology Co., Ltd. has been committed to the cultivation of Wuzhimaotao and the manufacture of deeply processed products, gradually forming an industrial chain integrating planting, research and development, production and sales. At present, the company has more than 3000 mu of its own standardized demonstration base, and this year it is expected to expand to 6000 mu. In order to maximize planting benefits, the company is researching and producing Wuzhimaotao wine and a series of soup ingredients, and is also preparing to develop products such as Wuzhimaotao tea, and is cooperating with Guangdong Pharmaceutical University to research and develop the extraction of psoralen rich in Wuzhimaotao, to supply materials needed by the pharmaceutical industry. At the same time, it plans to adopt the business model of "company + base + cooperative + farmers" to radiate and drive farmers in Xihe Town to plant Wuzhimaotao, leading the broad masses of villagers onto the road to common prosperity.
