45-year-old migrant worker from Bazhong returns home to build a thousand-mu vegetable base
He was born in a rural village. After graduating from junior high school, he made a living by fishing. At the age of 21, unable to bear the heavy burden of life, he went out to seek his fortune alone. Twenty years later, unable to stand the sight of a thousand mu of land in his hometown lying waste, he decided to transfer this wasteland and build a thousand-mu vegetable base. From 2014 to now, the former wasteland has been transformed into a fertile vegetable base, with nearly 4,000 jin of seasonal vegetables sold to Baczheng every day.
You Shaozhong Vegetable Base
It is reported that You Shaozhong, a 45-year-old migrant worker this year, is a villager of Shangyou Village, Sanjiang Town, Bazhou District. After graduating from junior high school, he fished in the river, but it was only enough to support his family, and once he nearly fell into the river and lost his life. In 1992, at the age of 21, You Shaozhong decided to go out to work. After several twists and turns, he chose to stay in Ningbo, Zhejiang, as a laborer. A year later, the boss gave him an important task and made him a contractor. At most, he led more than 200 people working in Ningbo. Over more than 20 years, he completed his first accumulation of wealth. In February 2014, in response to the call of the Bazhong Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government to return home and start a business, he returned to his hometown of Shangyou in Bazhong to start a business. At that time, he saw nearly a thousand mu of land beside the riverbank lying waste and overgrown with grass, so he invested 10 million yuan to develop local green vegetables and new rural construction, building a green vegetable kingdom in Bazhong.
Thousand-mu vegetable picking base: opening up a special picking experience area
“Wow, such fresh vegetables!” On May 25, the “Seasonal Vegetable Picking Base” in Shangyou Village, Sanjiang Town, Bazhou District, Bazhong City, was especially lively. In the base, vegetables such as peppers, black eggplant, and blue pumpkin were at their peak season, and more than 20 Bazhong citizens were experiencing the fun of picking in the vegetable base.
It is reported that in order to satisfy the people of Bazhong with safe, green local vegetables, You Shaozhong took the lead in 2014 in leasing 1,000 mu of land along the river in 6 villager groups of Shangyou Village, established the Shangyou Village Vegetable Professional Cooperative, and built a 1,000-mu green vegetable base, becoming a large-scale “vegetable basket” project base in Bazhong City.
In 2014, the company began open-field cultivation of 1,000 mu of green pollution-free vegetables. The varieties include peppers, radishes, bitter melons, pumpkins, cabbages, baby cabbages, cucumbers, potatoes, eggplants, etc., all grown using traditional methods, with organic fertilizer, oil cakes, and other fertilizers. The seasonal vegetables that can be supplied every day reach nearly 4,000 jin.
Recently, in order to make it convenient for urban and rural residents to pick on site, You Shaozhong specially opened an experiential green vegetable base, where people can pick their own vegetables or buy them on site, and this practice has also been favored by many citizens.
It is reported that Youjia Village, You Shaozhong's hometown, has 6 villager groups under its jurisdiction, with 302 households and 1,173 people, including 756 migrants, and is one of the poor villages in Sanjiang. In order to lead the local villagers out of poverty and toward prosperity, You Shaozhong specially invited Chongqing Damei Landscape Art Design Firm to undertake the planning and design task, implementing overall planning for Shangyou Village, with a planned investment of 120 million yuan, taking the path of new rural construction such as vegetable industry + Bashan new residences + tourism, and building an ecological industrial park integrating vegetable planting and sales, freshwater fish farming and sales, and agricultural ecological sightseeing tourism, to promote the overall poverty alleviation and development of Shangyou Village.
It is reported that the Bazhou District Planning and Design Institute has organized an expert group to demonstrate the “Happy and Beautiful New Village” of Bahe Peninsula. Its planned area covers 150 mu, with 260 new Bashan new residences, a newly built 4.5-kilometer road, a newly built 4.8-kilometer flood control levee, a newly built 200-mu ecological freshwater breeding lake, and ancillary projects of the new village, all with great market prospects.
At present, the project approval for the “Bahe Peninsula” Happy and Beautiful New Village has been reviewed and approved by the Bazhou District Branch of the Bazhong Municipal Planning Administration, the land resources, housing and urban-rural development, environmental protection, and new residence offices, and the flood control levee has been reviewed and approved by the Bazhou District Water Affairs Bureau.
