Gansu: Tiny morel mushrooms hold a fortune-making business opportunity

Recently, entrepreneur Yang Feng and his wife Liu Yinxia were picking ripe morel mushrooms in a greenhouse in Huichuan Town, Weiyuan County, Dingxi City, Gansu Province. Looking at the morel mushrooms that had been successfully trial-grown, the couple were all smiles.

It is understood that in 2015, Dingxi Yuanshun Biotechnology Co., Ltd. introduced morel mushrooms for trial cultivation on 1.2 mu. At present, the mushrooms in the trial plot are emerging uniformly and growing well, and some morel mushrooms have already begun to be harvested. Harvesting is expected to be completed in mid-May. Based on the weight of the products already harvested, the yield per mu can reach about 300-500 jin. At present, the domestic market price of fresh wild morel mushrooms is about 150 yuan per jin, while the dried finished product reaches 2,000 yuan per jin. Based on current market prices, the output value per mu can reach 45,000-75,000 yuan, and the net income per mu can reach 37,000-67,000 yuan.

The morel mushroom is a precious edible and medicinal fungus, rich in 18 amino acids including the 8 essential amino acids needed by the human body. It has extremely high nutritional value and health benefits, and is known as the "meat of vegetarian food." It is deeply loved by consumers and has broad market development prospects. (Ming Xuying)
