In Zhifang Village, Dao Town, Ganquan County, "Xiao Wang" is often mentioned by the villagers. This is their affectionate name for the college graduate village official Wang Li. In 2011, Wang Li, then 25 years old and a young man from Xi'an, defied his family's objections, gave up a generous job package, and resolutely chose the ordinary grassroots post of village official. Wang Li was born in Xi'an and grew up in a relatively well-off family. After graduating from university, he smoothly became a teacher. But tempering himself in the countryside was his aspiration. In July 2011, Shaanxi Province recruited college graduate village officials. Wang Li resolutely signed up and, after rounds of selection, became a college graduate village official in Zhifang Village, Dao Town, Ganquan County.
When he first arrived in Ganquan, in order to understand the village conditions and public opinion, Wang Li visited every household. From neighborhood disputes to relations between officials and the people, from household income to beneficial policies, in just a few short months he quickly became a trusted confidant of the villagers.

Zhifang Village in Dao Town is close to a river channel, has little arable land, and most young people go out to work. The village has 26 left-behind children living with their grandfathers and grandmothers, and their education and safety problems are relatively prominent. For this reason, Wang Li came up with the idea of establishing a free summer tutoring class for left-behind children.

Gao Xiaojun, a villager of Xiangbiwan in Zhifang Village, has a family of six, relies mainly on farming for income, and lives in great difficulty. Both of his daughters were admitted to university at the same time, but the high tuition fees were beyond what the poor family could bear. After learning of the situation, Wang Li actively made connections and secured a donation of 1,000 yuan from a caring enterprise and 500 yuan per month in living expenses from caring individuals, easing the Gao Xiaojun family's urgent need.

At that time things were not good, the family was in great difficulty, and we could not come up with the tuition. Wang Li introduced his friends to help. Otherwise, our children might not have been able to attend university. I am very grateful to Wang Li!
In 2013, Yan'an suffered exceptionally severe rainfall, and the Party member activity room in Zhifang Village was seriously damaged. Wang Li actively coordinated and secured 7,000 yuan in funding, purchased office facilities, and paid out of his own pocket to buy square streetlights for the village. At the same time, he used existing resources to organize the masses in summer evening cooling-off screenings of main-theme films and square dancing and other cultural and entertainment activities, enriching the people's cultural life.

Targeted poverty alleviation has been the focus of agricultural and rural work in the past two years. As a village official fighting on the frontline at the grassroots level, Wang Li thinks every day about how to lead the people in developing industries and increasing income to become prosperous.

In the future, I will work harder in this area, do my utmost, and actively coordinate and guide leading industries suited to the village's development, striving to help the people of our village become prosperous as soon as possible.
From 2012 to the present, Wang Li has been rated excellent three times in the annual assessment of village officials; in 2014 he also received the honorary title of "Advanced Individual" from the Party Committee and People's Government of Dao Town, and the honorary title of "Good Person of Ganquan"; in 2014 his research paper "Caring for the Elderly Living Alone, Let the Setting Sun Be Infinitely Beautiful" won the third prize for "Outstanding Research Article" in Ganquan County; and in 2016, on May Fourth Youth Day, he was named an outstanding youth of Ganquan County by the Communist Youth League Committee of Ganquan County.
