What else can farmers do after pig farming is banned?
According to incomplete statistics, at least 150 counties across the country have been designated as no-breeding zones, and farmers in these areas truly can no longer rely on pig farming to get rich; and with the introduction of the no-breeding policy, the rural slogan with a distinct era flavor, "If you want to get rich, raise fewer children and more pigs," has come to an end. Since pig farming is no longer allowed, what else can farmers do in rural areas to get rich?

Under what circumstances did pig farming to get rich become part of farmers' consciousness?
In the 1980s, it was the period when family planning began to be fully implemented, and it was also in the early stage of reform and opening up. At that time, farmers all made a living by farming, and life was hard, to say the least. In that era, farmers had an unwritten understanding: having more children could increase the labor force, and with more labor for farming, one could get rich.
Was that really the case? Because land is limited, and there were several more mouths to feed, farmers' lives became even harder. To solve this problem of limited per capita resources and for the sake of long-term sustainable development, the state implemented family planning. In that period, in order to encourage rural families to have fewer children and guide them toward getting rich, slogans such as "If you want to get rich, raise fewer children and more pigs" appeared, and rural areas began to join the ranks of breeding and pig farming one after another, heading toward the goal of getting rich.
Speaking of this, I have a question: Did farmers get rich by raising pigs?
Let us first look at the data: in 2015, in Xitaiping Village, Chaoyanggou Town, Zhaozhou County, Heilongjiang, a small hamlet, the entire hamlet's per capita net income from pig farming exceeded 30,000 yuan; while in 2015, China's rural per capita income had just passed the 10,000 yuan mark, at 11,422 yuan.Note: Xitaiping Village has a total of 49 households, all of which raise pigs, and the breeding scale is not large.
Whether farmers can get rich by raising pigs needs no lengthy argument; the results speak for themselves. Small courtyard pig farming has already become the main means for farmers to get rich at home.
Pig farming is no longer allowed, what else can farmers do?
Perhaps going out to work is the best way out for farmers. At present, China's urban construction is in full swing, and a large number of labor gaps need to be filled, and the wages offered are also acceptable; but this is not a long-term solution either. Five years, 10 years, 20 years outside, can you do it for a lifetime? Grain prices are very low now, and farming can only solve the problem of food and clothing; making money is impossible. As the saying goes, "Cheap grain hurts the people," and pig farming is not allowed either. This... what else can farmers do? I fell into deep thought...
