Jingzhou waxberries in Hunan await your taste, Feishan's 60,000 tons welcome 200,000 visitors

This year's Waxberry Festival was hosted by the Huaihua Municipal People's Government, organized by the Jingzhou Miao and Dong Autonomous County People's Government, and co-organized by Hunan People's Radio Station, China Huinong Network, and Hunan Yipin Dongfang Biotechnology Co., Ltd. According to the Jingzhou Waxberry Festival Organizing Committee, the waxberry output of Jingzhou County in 2016 is expected to reach 60,000 tons, and 200,000 tourists will come to Jingzhou for sightseeing during the festival.
In order to develop characteristic industries, promote waxberry sales, and increase the income of waxberry farmers, the Jingzhou County Party Committee and County Government decided to hold six major theme activities during the Waxberry Festival: the waxberry harvesting ceremony, the launch ceremony of the Changsha waxberry tasting activity, the online waxberry festival, the waxberry sales ordering meeting, a series of tourism activities, and Feishan cultural activities. Through these activities, they aim to promote waxberry farmers' poverty alleviation and income growth, advance eco-tourism development, and carry forward Feishan culture. During the Waxberry Festival, tourist attractions such as Jingzhou Waxberry Landscape Mountain, Feishan Village, Yanjiao Dong Village, Disun Miao Village, Sun Island, and Paiya Mountain State-owned Forest Farm will simultaneously launch a series of tourism activities to welcome tourists from all over the country.
The opening ceremony of the "Yipin Dongfang" 2016 China Jingzhou Waxberry Festival and Feishan Cultural Tourism Festival was extraordinarily lively. Accompanied by music with ethnic characteristics, an original ecological stage play "Love of the Waxberry" opened the prelude to the waxberry festival gala. The performance was divided into five chapters: "Celebrating the Waxberry," "Bestowing the Waxberry," "Singing the Waxberry," "Loving the Waxberry," and "Dancing the Waxberry," vividly illustrating Jingzhou's long waxberry history and colorful waxberry culture. Jingzhou's high-quality waxberry production bases and the 2015 Top Ten Waxberry Sales Enterprises were awarded plaques. The agricultural assistance envoys selected through voting on China Huinong Network were also presented with certificates at the opening ceremony. After the waxberry harvesting ceremony, leaders, guests, media reporters, and tens of thousands of self-driving tourists from various places climbed the Waxberry Viewing Platform together to enjoy the scenery of ten thousand mu of waxberry groves, taste Jingzhou waxberries, and savor the original ecological flavor.
Jingzhou has a history of waxberry cultivation exceeding 2,000 years and is one of the main waxberry-producing areas in the country, known as "China's Home of Waxberries." Its unique "Mudong Waxberry" enjoys the reputation of "the finest waxberry in Jiangnan." The county's waxberry planting area reaches 76,000 mu, with an output of about 60,000 tons and an output value of 1 billion yuan. The waxberry industry is one of the characteristic agricultural industries that Jingzhou County focuses on developing. In recent years, Jingzhou has vigorously developed deep processing of waxberries and extended the industrial chain. Enterprises such as Yipin Dongfang, Shengshi Bainen, and Xiang Baishi have successively settled in Jingzhou. Waxberry deep-processing enterprises digest locally the waxberries unsuitable for fresh sale, greatly increasing the income of waxberry farmers and also solving part of the idle labor force in rural areas. Hunan Yipin Dongfang Biotechnology Co., Ltd. has invested a total of 235 million yuan to set up a factory in Jingzhou to produce waxberry beverages, and after the project is put into production, the annual output value can reach more than 400 million yuan. As the waxberry industry continues to grow and expand, waxberry cultivation and processing has become a major pillar industry in Jingzhou, and the waxberry has also become a "golden fruit" for local farmers to increase income and achieve prosperity.
