"Social pigs" released this week, the difficulty of pig price upward movement increases sharply

Exclusive analysis by Newmu Network Week 22 (May 29 - June 4) According to the prices monitored by Newmu Network, it can be seen that last week the national live pig price remained stable, with the average price fluctuating within 0.05 yuan/jin. Pig prices rose slightly in the middle of the week and fell slightly at the weekend, with a very small price fluctuation range. As of the 4th, the national average live pig price was 10.56 yuan/jin, about 0.2% lower than the same period last week. The highest national live pig quote was Hebei Province at 10.75 yuan/jin, and the lowest was Henan Province at 10.4 yuan/jin.

According to a Newmu Network survey of pig prices in Central China, Henan pig prices were 10.25 yuan/jin-10.6 yuan/jin, down 0.05 yuan/jin compared with Week 23; Hubei pig prices were 10.4 yuan/jin-10.7 yuan/jin, up 0.1 yuan/jin compared with Week 23; Hunan pig prices were 10.4 yuan/jin-10.6 yuan/jin, stable compared with Week 23. On the breeding enterprise side, Nanyang Muyuan was 10.7 yuan/jin-10.75 yuan/jin, down 0.05 yuan/jin compared with Week 23; Wens' Two Lakes Pig Farming Company had a pig price of 10.7 yuan/jin, up 0.1 yuan/jin compared with Week 23.

Last week, heavy rainfall in many parts of the south had a relatively large impact on live pig production and transportation, helping drive pig prices to continue rising, and the average live pig price kept hitting new records. Slaughtering enterprises stocking up before the Dragon Boat Festival boosted the live pig market, but weak terminal demand greatly slowed the pace of pig price increases. With both supply and demand low, the arrival of heavy rain became the main theme of last week's pig market. Within the week, pig prices in most regions remained stable, with local rises and falls adjusted; pig prices in East China, Northwest China, and Southwest China rose, pig prices in Central China, South China, and Yunnan-Guizhou remained stable on the main line, and pig prices in Northeast China fluctuated up and down. Slaughtering enterprises kept small changes in live pig prices stable, mainly because insufficient production capacity made price suppression ineffective, and also because live pig supply itself was slightly tight within balance, with pricing power still leaning toward the supply side.

Newmu Network forecast for the next stage: The difficulty of pig price upward movement increases sharply, slight adjustment and stability become the best situation

Heavy rainfall in the south not only brought resistance to live pig transportation, but also affected the total volume of social live pigs sent to slaughter, slightly boosting pig prices. This week, South China still has continuous rainfall, while Central China has cleared up. The effect of rainfall in raising pig prices will gradually dissipate, and after local weather clears, it will be conducive to pig slaughter. The social pigs corresponding to the market around the Dragon Boat Festival will be released this week. It is expected that the total slaughter volume of social pigs this week will be greater than last week. Holiday-corresponding meat consumption will increase slightly, but the high temperatures after the weather clears will bring the off-season for meat consumption. With increased slaughter, high pig prices, and high temperatures corresponding to reduced consumption, it is expected that pig prices this week will consolidate at a high level and edge downward slightly.
