Mo Guiming: Doing one thing well in this lifetime is enough
Having long worked in landscaping in Nanning, why did he suddenly change direction and go all in on planting? What exactly prompted him to return to Laibin City to invest, and what has he achieved so far? With these questions in mind, the reporter visited Guangxi Guijing Agricultural Development Co., Ltd., located in Pingxi Village, Laibin Town, Laibin City.
The company was established in November 2015. The company's chairman, Mo Guiming (hereinafter referred to as Chairman Mo), is originally from Luzhai, Liuzhou. As soon as he met us, Chairman Mo enthusiastically showed us his "paradise."

The planting base is located in Kuihua Village, Qiaogong Township. Just as the reporter and the group were touring the base, Tan Bijian, the village head of Kuihua Village, and Qin Hanli, the village Party secretary of Kuihua Village, also arrived at the base and accepted an on-site interview with the reporter.

Tan Bijian, village head of Kuihua Village
Village Head Tan told the reporter: "Chairman Mo came to contract the land, and it has also motivated many villagers. The villagers help plant citrus, and there is a labor fee every day. In the past, we didn't make much money growing sugarcane. When Chairman Mo came to rent the land, he paid 1000 yuan per mu. In the past, we didn't know that growing fruit could bring in so much money. Now we hear that one mu of land can bring in about 20,000 yuan in income, and everyone is very happy. At present, 17 households in our village have spontaneously followed along and started planting. Chairman Mo and his team provide the technology and tell us how to apply fertilizer. The villagers strongly support him. The village also strongly supports Chairman Mo and believes this is a good thing. The village leaders have all stated that if there are any difficulties, they will give Chairman Mo strong support."
Secretary Qin of Kuihua Village
Secretary Qin excitedly told the reporter: "Chairman Mo has very sharp eyes. Most of the villagers in our village have contracted their land out to others and gone out to work themselves. Now when Chairman Mo comes to contract the land, the rent is paid to the villagers year by year. There is also a reservoir up there that will be developed as well, to grow some fruits like strawberries. Once they are growing well, (tourists) can come to the orchard and have some fun. This benefits the boss and benefits us too. Now Chairman Mo has filled our road really well with gravel and sand. It really is a good thing. In fact, across the whole of Laibin, several thousand mu of land have already been contracted out, and only this little bit is left for farming. Growing sugarcane doesn't make money either, but Chairman Mo told us that growing fruit can bring in 20,000 yuan per mu, so then we'd get rich. This kind of thing benefits both sides, so the masses all support him, and the village committee supports him too."

Chairman Mo told the reporter: "The project will be developed in 3 phases. The first phase is to establish an ecological picking orchard, which is also a demonstration area. The second phase is to establish a fruit sales area. What the company provides is full-process, dedicated-personnel, fixed-point technical monitoring. If there are any problems with the fruit trees, the company bears full responsibility. The company will buy back at a guaranteed price. After the fruit goes on the market, the company will bring in buyers to purchase it, increasing farmers' income and reducing risk. These measures are intended to let farmers produce with greater peace of mind, with a sense of security in their hearts, free from outside interference. Only by instilling this idea in farmers and letting them know that growing fruit is safe can they grow fruit with peace of mind."
Fruit farmers tending the fruit trees
"This base you see now has already reached the first phase, which is planting more than 200 mu of fruit trees, including 8 varieties such as sugar oranges, green-peel honey oranges, guavas, grapes, and strawberries, and they are being tended. Next, it will be built into an ecological farm (demonstration area). Within this year, we will strive to reach 600-700 mu. The plan is to plant more than 1,000 mu within three years. In this way, farmers can truly see how growing fruit can make them rich. At present, more than 10 households have already followed along and started planting. We provide guarantees in technology, sales, and production, and I believe more and more farming households will join in the future." Mo Guiming proudly told the reporter. When mentioning why he chose to invest in Laibin, this is how he answered the reporter: "Laibin has large tracts of land in a wasteland state. Local farmers have very low income from growing sugarcane, with output value generally around 800 yuan per mu. Now we rent land at 1000 yuan per mu, and moreover the land can be contracted in contiguous tracts, which also makes management easier. Of course, the most important point is that I hope to do what I can to drive Laibin's economic development. Although my personal ability is limited, I will do as much as I can and strive to achieve this goal. I also hope that people of insight can join in and lead farmers to create a path to prosperity together."
During the interview, what Mo Guiming talked about most was how to lead farmers to prosperity. He also revealed to the reporter: "This is the only thing I will do in my whole life!" The reporter was deeply moved by Mo Guiming's persistent spirit, and also hopes that more people of insight can join in and truly help farmers get rich!
