On June 7, at the pilot project for comprehensive treatment of agricultural non-point source pollution in Dongqiao Village, Yandian Town, Anlu City, Hubei Province, construction workers were carrying out ditch improvement.
As one of the first two pilot sites for comprehensive treatment of agricultural non-point source pollution in the country, Anlu City, Hubei Province, will plant aquatic plants in the completed water system, using biological purification to cut off water pollution in field ditches, exploring a path for treating agricultural non-point source pollution. It is reported that after the demonstration project is completed, it will effectively control the unreasonable use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, and nitrogen and phosphorus discharge will be reduced by more than half.
In 2015, China officially launched the battle against agricultural non-point source pollution, striving to achieve breakthrough progress in the coming years in agricultural water conservation, reduction of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, treatment of livestock and poultry manure, and straw utilization.
