Silver Concubine plums fill the air with fragrance; fruit-tasting and sightseeing in Qianpai draws visitors from all directions

Since the June 5 fruit-tasting festival kicked off, and especially since the "stress-relief travel" boom after the college entrance exam and high school entrance exam, Qianpai Town - China's No. 1 Sanhua Plum Town - has seen traffic streaming through its town center and villages, with crowds surging everywhere. Major fruit-tasting orchards and numerous scenic spots such as Luhuding and Baimaping are packed with people all day long. The popularity of rural eco-tourism is truly astonishing!

It is the plum that has spread the town's good name and brought it prosperity. In recent years, the Qianpai Town Party Committee and Town Government have boldly explored and innovated ways to develop Sanhua plums. Relying on unique climatic conditions and mountainous resources, they have strengthened the industry and built the brand on one hand, and promoted tourism on the other, forging a path of development in which characteristic industry and tourism reinforce and support each other. This has turned a once little-known mountain town into a "Guangdong Livable Demonstration Town" and a "Guangdong Famous Town." The local specialty, the "Silver Concubine" Sanhua plum, has become renowned across the country, its fragrance wafting nationwide.

Over the past few days, this reporter visited several villages along the highway, including Qianpai, Shuanghe and Suodong, and found traffic and crowds everywhere, with unusually congested roads. Cars filled the roadsides, the village cultural plazas, and even the flat ground in front of and behind many farmers' houses. Visitors streamed continuously along the village roads, laughing and chatting, their accents and dress clearly different from those of local villagers. In Danuo Natural Village of Qianpai Village Committee, the birthplace of Sanhua plum cultivation, tourists poured in and out of the village in one wave after another. In the Silver Concubine fruit-tasting orchards on both sides of the village road, many visitors wandered among the trees, experiencing the joy of picking fruit in a cheerful atmosphere and savoring a deliciousness that goes straight from branch to tongue.
