Five ways, I say rural life beats city life

Lately a friend keeps complaining that life in the village is no good, and wants to find work to go live in the city. To be honest, I have always longed for the bustle of the city too, but if we really get down to comparing them, I think rural life genuinely beats city life. I have evidence, in five ways:

1. Slow living, slow rhythm, let everything slow down. No need to ride a smelly subway or bus every day, no need to sit honking in traffic jams every day. Come to the countryside, at least for a bit of leisure, and steal half a day of idle time from a busy life.

2. The food is all from home and does not contain too many additives, and it is certainly not the gutter oil in restaurants. Simple tea and plain meals, as light and gentle as life itself.

3. Nights where you can only hear the chirping of insects, afternoons where only a breeze passes by. This place is as peaceful as a hidden paradise, making you unable to help but forget the noise of the mundane world. Of course, this place not only gives you a peaceful environment, but even more a peaceful heart.

4. Wild pleasures. Here there are cicadas, locust flowers and elm seeds; you can go down to the river to catch fish, climb trees to pick fruit, lie on the grass to rest when tired, and draw a bucket of icy, sweet well water when thirsty. In short, we can be as carefree as in childhood, until dark.

5. Is your work already packed full every day? Is every meal just for social obligations? We shoulder a huge workload just to live a better life, and this seems to have become a paradox, because wanting to live well makes us suffer more. Come to the countryside. Here there is no huge pressure of life; having enough food and warmth is an easy problem to solve. No need to remind yourself the moment you open your eyes every day that you still owe a pile of things like mortgage and car loans. You can even sleep until the sun is high in the sky every day, release the pent-up pressure in your heart to the far edges of the sky and sea, and let it drift away without a trace.

In short, people should not stay sealed up in a world of steel and concrete for too long, because this makes people restless, anxious, and even depressed. Who would want to live long in a forest made of concrete?

Life is not just about the drudgery before your eyes, but also about poetry and distant fields
