Who is exploiting farmers' lack of education to boast about making big money in rural areas?

General News 0 views
Bullying farmers for being uneducated? Just who is boasting that you can make big money in rural areas!

When the forest gets big enough, there are all kinds of birds.

Going back further, ever since humans existed, from the division of labor in society all the way to today, the working people at the front line have never once turned things around.

In agrarian society it was not so bad, after all agriculture was the most important industry, occupying more than half of the nation's industrial landscape, in other words, agriculture still accounted for most of the nation's wealth. At least farmers' status was still above merchants, and looking further down, farmers could at least find someone worse off than themselves. Merchants had some money, but no status, right? Just street peddlers!

So what about now?

The entire agricultural sector accounts for only 10% of GDP, and the agricultural population? Around 60%. No need to say more, this data alone explains how hard it is for farmers.

But there is, of all things, another voice: farmers are about to make big money, agriculture is about to surpass real estate and become the most profitable industry, rural homestead land is about to make a fortune, the state is handing out subsidies so farmers should hurry and collect them. This kind of talk is especially severe on the internet.

There are also some local governments that, for the sake of their own "political achievements," talk big and claim great merit, either pushing the whole county to go all in on cash crops, and after a few years when it does not work, switching to another category and starting over, beautifully calling it leading farmers to prosperity, but in the end it becomes fooling farmers into endless turmoil.

It must be said that because of decades of policies tilting toward cities in many aspects, the older generation of farmers' knowledge and views have indeed fallen far behind modern society, and this society owes farmers far too much. But this does not mean that just because you have a slight information advantage, you can fool farmers for your own selfish gain.

The editors at Nongdi Quan counted them up, and there are roughly these kinds of voices: 1. Agricultural subsidies can let farmers make big money, hurry over and pay to attend training and I will tell you how to apply. 2. Land transfer can make big money, hurry and transfer your land out. 3. Growing cash crops can make big money, hurry and buy my seedlings, I guarantee buyback. 4. Ecological agriculture can make big money, come and I will tell you how to do it. 5. Tourism agriculture can bring prosperity, hurry and do tourism agriculture. And so on and so forth.

And the result? The people are still there, but the money is gone.

In fact, the issues of agriculture, rural areas and farmers can be calculated with elementary school arithmetic, how could it be so complicated?

Will the total number of farmers suddenly decrease? No!

Will the total amount of arable land increase? No!

Will grain output increase substantially? Also no!

Will grain prices suddenly rise sharply? Even corn prices could not be propped up, and the policy changed to price-subsidy separation, so what do you think?

Industrial and commercial enterprises transferring land still cannot achieve the points above.

So the significance of land transfer is of course not increasing output but reducing expenditure.

Talking about the three rural issues in terms of the three rural issues alone is an unsolvable problem. The path to solving the three rural issues lies outside agriculture.

Farmers being uneducated does not mean you can fool them!
