Vegetable greenhouse cultivation bears fruit of prosperity and increased income
In recent years, Huma County has continued to accelerate the pace of agricultural structural adjustment. Through effective measures such as policy support and technical backing, it has vigorously developed the greenhouse economy, which has enriched the "vegetable basket" of local residents while leading farmers onto a path of sustainable development toward prosperity.
Stepping into the vegetable greenhouse of Yang Wenhan, a villager of Village One in Huma Town, the fresh fragrance of cucumbers, tomatoes and other vegetables and seedlings greets you. Yang Wenhan is a well-known greenhouse vegetable growing expert in the local area. He has been engaged in greenhouse vegetable cultivation for 16 years now, and his family currently has 6 greenhouses, with a planting area of more than 2,000 sq m. Every year, Yang Wenhan is the first in the whole village to start greenhouse vegetable planting. In January this year, his family began all the preparatory work before planting, the advantage of which is to get the vegetables onto the market earlier. Yang Wenhan said: "When the cucumbers first hit the market on March 25, the price reached 15 yuan per jin, and sales were quite good."
Because Yang Wenhan insists on using organic fertilizer for cultivation and planting, his family's vegetables are now highly favored by customers. Every spring, many residents start early to ask about the growth of his vegetables, and many customers from nearby counties and districts also make special trips through various channels to buy his vegetables.
For a long time, the agricultural technology department of Huma County has always provided long-term, regular and professional technical assistance and on-site guidance to farmers engaged in greenhouse vegetable cultivation, teaching them scientific greenhouse vegetable cultivation techniques such as overwintering cultivation, early spring seedling raising, summer rain sheltering, and pest and disease prevention. Farmers with large planting areas like Yang Wenhan's family are key targets of assistance for the agricultural technology department.
In recent years, Huma County has actively guided farmers to broaden their paths to prosperity, continuously increased assistance for farmers to prosper and raise their incomes, and done everything possible to create convenient conditions for farmers to prosper and increase their incomes.
This year, Huma County will also plan to build a concentrated and contiguous large-scale pollution-free greenhouse vegetable base, guide vegetable farmers in a timely manner to adjust vegetable planting methods, optimize variety structure, and enhance the technological content, raise the level of standardized, intensive, organized and branded management of greenhouse vegetable production, maximize the economic benefits for vegetable farmers, and make specialty greenhouse vegetable cultivation an important way for the county's agricultural economic development and for farmers to prosper and increase their incomes.
