On June 24, Yu Xijun (left) took his wife Wang Fengjuan (middle) and fellow fishermen from the same village to sort out fishing nets by Xingkai Lake.
San Nong Express comprehensive report: Yu Xijun, a fisherman from Huyan Village, Baiyuwanzhen, Mishan City, Heilongjiang Province, has 20 years of "fishing experience." In recent years, fish prices at Xingkai Lake have risen somewhat, and fishermen's overall income has also continued to increase. Now, old Yu not only earns income from fishing each year, he also runs a restaurant and has planted vegetables, corn, and more in his own yard. Relying on these three livelihoods, he and his wife Wang Fengjuan bring in at least 150,000 yuan each year.
Every year from June 6 to July 20 is the closed fishing season at Xingkai Lake. In addition to mending nets and repairing boats, old Yu and his wife put most of their time into running the restaurant. "The government attaches great importance to the ecological protection of Xingkai Lake and sets a closed fishing season every year, so the number and variety of fish have increased year by year, and fishermen's income is guaranteed."
