San Nong Express comprehensive report: "Now the reach of 'WeChat' is so great and so fast. I only shouted out two or three times about this batch of early-ripening grapes in my WeChat 'Moments', and customers drove to my door themselves to pick and buy them, saving me the hardship of traveling around." On June 26, watching customers come in twos and threes to the orchard to pick early-ripening, high-quality grapes, the joy on the face of Zhu Chengxia, a female college student farm owner in Gaodong Village, Mianhuapo Town, Naxi District, Luzhou City, Sichuan Province, was written all over her face.

On June 20, as Zhu Chengxia posted a WeChat message in her "Moments" saying, "The early-ripening, high-quality grapes are ripe, the quantity is limited, so sisters who want to get a taste should hurry. You can eat as much as you like in the orchard, and takeaway is only charged at cost, 20 yuan/jin," it quickly attracted the attention of more than 20 followers. After it was forwarded one after another, on June 21, more than 10 customers drove over to pick and buy.

Zhu Chengxia, 26 this year, learned online during her college years that the Luzhou area is particularly suitable for grape growing, but most of the high-quality grapes on the Luzhou market were transported in from other places, with high costs and high selling prices. So after graduating from college and working in Shanghai for 1 year, in the autumn of 2013, she resolutely quit her job and returned to her hometown. With her parents' support, she transferred more than 80 mu of farmland in Gaodong Village, Mianhuapo Town, introduced two high-quality varieties, Rose Fragrance and Cream Fragrance, and began growing grapes.

Now, after nearly 4 years of careful management, this year Zhu Chengxia's more than 80 mu of grapes have fully entered the fruiting stage.

In order to sell the grapes at a good price and stagger them from the market season, this year Zhu Chengxia set aside more than 10 mu of grape fields for greenhouse cultivation. Although the greenhouse-grown Rose Fragrance and Cream Fragrance grapes cost more than 600 yuan per mu extra, they came to market half a month earlier. Aiming at customers' psychology of wanting to get a fresh taste, the shrewd Zhu Chengxia, shortly before the grapes ripened, posted a WeChat message with both text and pictures in her WeChat "Moments" about coming to the farm to pick and buy grapes. Since the grapes then on the Luzhou market were all wine grapes, while her high-quality table grapes were still a blank spot on the Luzhou market, it quickly won the attention of followers, who asked her one after another about the picking route.

"I didn't expect the effect to be so good." Watching customers who came with friends, and families coming in groups to the vineyard busily picking and tasting grapes, Zhu Chengxia told this writer. In order to expand the scope of "attracting followers", when the two high-quality grape varieties, Rose Fragrance and Cream Fragrance, ripen, she will also launch a "you scan, I give free" activity. "I believe the effect will be good then too," said Zhu Chengxia. (Text/photo by Zhou Chaowen and Tao Wensi)
