Kou Xiumei, a villager from Group 1 of Xinyangzhuang Village, told reporters that in the past they cooked with firewood, and the small kitchen had poor smoke exhaust, stinging people's eyes until they cried; later they burned coal briquettes, which were not only expensive but also carried the risk of gas poisoning; later still, they switched to liquefied gas, which meant riding a tricycle to the county seat to exchange the steel cylinder, very inconvenient. Unexpectedly, now they have piped natural gas, which is safe, convenient and clean.
In Kou Xiumei's kitchen, the reporter saw a gas stove, a range hood and everything else, no different from a city family's home.
"A natural gas water heater has also been installed here. After a tiring day, you can take a hot shower at night, so convenient!" Kou Xiumei led the reporter to the bathroom on the left side of the main gate, pointed at the natural gas water heater inside, and said excitedly.
A person in charge from the Yingyang Town government told reporters that in order to actively respond to the "Beautiful Countryside, Clean Homeland" campaign and effectively improve people's livelihood, Yingyang Town actively coordinated with the Xiangcheng County Branch of Henan Zhonghe Gas Co., Ltd., scientifically planned the gas routes, and worked overtime on pipeline laying. At present, more than 20 households in Xinyangzhuang of the town have access to natural gas, and natural gas pipelines in other villages are being laid in an orderly manner.
Wang Wei, manager of the Xiangcheng County Branch of Henan Zhonghe Gas Co., Ltd., did the math for reporters: for a family of four, based on three meals a day, boiling water and showering, the monthly cost is 20 to 30 yuan, more than 10 yuan cheaper than using cylinder liquefied gas, clean and hygienic, with faster temperature rise, convenient to use, on whenever needed.
Wang Wei introduced that to ensure villagers use gas safely, company staff went door to door to inspect, and also distributed safe gas use manuals to villagers, helping them solve problems encountered in using gas, so that people can use it with peace of mind and confidence. Next, they will seize the favorable weather, work overtime on installations, and strive to bring natural gas to all villages in the county within two years.
"Look, I now live in a building, cook with natural gas, walk on cement roads when I go out, streetlights shine brightly at night, and when the speakers at the cultural compound play, we dance square dances... This life is no worse than city people's!" Talking about her current life, Aunt Kou Xiumei said with a face full of happiness.
