The agricultural e-commerce dream of a post-80s young man in Yuzhou District, Guangxi
In recent years, with the rapid development of internet technology, agricultural e-commerce has enabled agricultural products from among the green mountains and clear waters to be sold far away through the internet, not only broadening the sales channels for agricultural products, but also maximizing benefits through the model of deep processing of agricultural products.
Yu Zheng, a young man born in the 1980s, set up his own "agricultural e-commerce dream" in his own house. Walking into Yu Zheng's studio, a simple agricultural product delivery "assembly line" comes into view. It is currently the peak season for selling lychees, and workers on this simple "assembly line" skillfully busy themselves in an orderly way, from pruning and selecting fresh lychees, to weighing and boxing them, and then to packing them into cartons. According to Yu Zheng, this is his first time venturing into agricultural e-commerce. Starting from June 1, he began purchasing high-quality lychee products while accepting online orders and handling product delivery. Because he had no experience, he also learned as he went, but unexpectedly the results were gratifying, with an average of about 100 boxes of fresh lychees delivered per day, and at most more than 120 boxes. How was this achieved? Yu Zheng explained the reason. Lychees are well known for their fresh and sweet taste, and there is even the praise, "If I could eat three hundred lychees a day, I would not mind being a Lingnan native forever." However, because lychees have the delicate trait that "they change color in one day and change taste in three days," the transportation problem of lychees has become the biggest difficulty restricting their sale to distant places. Yu Zheng therefore started from the two directions of preservation and transportation. For "preservation," he used an appropriate amount of ice packs and carefully sealed them in foam boxes. For "transportation," he signed contracts with courier companies, requiring them to promise "24 hours within the province and 48 hours outside the province." In this way, not only can the lychees be ensured to reach customers on time, but it can also be ensured that the lychees "do not change color and do not change taste." When product quality is good, naturally online orders increase.
After 1 month of effort, Yu Zheng got a taste of the "sweetness" of agricultural e-commerce. Yu Zheng said that next he will shift from a single agricultural product to diversified products, enrich the product categories, and promote local specialty agricultural products such as passion fruit, longan, and Renhou sweet potato; he will also strive to strengthen the management of Weidian and Taobao stores, while developing a mobile app, expanding through multiple channels, and enriching his "agricultural e-commerce dream."
