Specialty breeding boosts the wallets of farmers in Wugou Township, Suixi County, Anhui

On July 19, villagers Zhu Weiting and Chen Chuanling, a husband-and-wife couple from Dongzhu Village, Tulou Village, Wugou Township, Suixi County, dried Chinese medicine ground beetles (Eupolyphaga sinensis) in their own courtyard.

Six years ago, Zhu Weiting invested more than 100,000 yuan to build a breeding farm and spent more than 30,000 yuan on ground beetle seedlings, and the couple has since engaged in specialty breeding at home. They are able to support their elders at home and look after their children's schooling while not neglecting agricultural production, and an annual economic income of more than 200,000 yuan has enabled their family to live a moderately prosperous life.
