In Dongsheng Village, Hongquan Township, Qianguo County, Songyuan City, Jilin Province, there is a famous cattle-raising "expert." Whenever people mention him, the villagers cannot help but give a thumbs-up. He is Li Hongguo, who has spent more than 30 years working with cattle and has embarked on a road to prosperity.
Thirty years ago, because there were many people and little land, the villagers of Dongsheng Village began going out to work one after another. Li Hongguo, unwilling to leave his hometown, set his sights on yellow cattle. Over all these years, he has always adhered to the principles of self-breeding and self-raising, growing from small to large, and rolling development, and he has overcome all kinds of difficulties in breeding.
As the saying goes, those who live by the mountain make a living from the mountain, and those who live by the water make a living from the water. Li Hongguo relied on wild grass and adopted a free-range method. "Free-range raising is hard work, but as long as the cattle are raised strong and there is a market for them, then it is worth it." He and his wife worked diligently, growing from a few cattle more than 30 years ago to 70 cattle in 2008. Just when he hoped his herd would exceed 100 head, a sudden cattle epidemic destroyed his dream of prosperity.
In 2008, Li Hongguo not only failed to make money, but also lost all his capital. However, he refused to give up, pulled himself together again, and borrowed money and took out loans everywhere to buy new breeding cattle.
After failing once, Li Hongguo became even more mindful about raising cattle. In order to get through the hurdle of preventing and treating cattle diseases, he often went to the local animal husbandry department to ask experts about cattle-raising knowledge, carefully understood the physiological functions and pathological common sense of cattle, and became familiar with the habits of cattle. Through learning, he not only saved relatively large feeding costs, but also gained substantial economic benefits. Hard work pays off. After 2009, his cattle-raising business became smoother and smoother. Today, he raises more than 100 head of cattle.
Li Hongguo made money raising cattle and turned his life around, and his days became more and more prosperous. "You have to persist in everything you do. The same principle applies to raising cattle. If you make it through, then you have won." Li Hongguo said with a laugh that whatever you do, you should be suited to it, and you should also delve into it. You must be a mindful person; only in this way will you not fail. In the process of raising cattle, Li Hongguo persisted in taking the path of scientific breeding. He often explored new methods and new technologies, fearing neither hardship, dirt, nor fatigue, cleaning the cattle sheds and crushing feed day and night. After many years of breeding practice, he mastered feeding techniques.
He had a timetable for what time to put out fodder for the cattle every day; every time there was epidemic prevention, he recorded it in detail in a diary; every time the cattle had a minor ailment, he cared for them meticulously... An annual income of several hundred thousand yuan set Li Hongguo on the road to moderate prosperity. But while getting rich, he did not forget his fellow villagers, and he led the surrounding villagers to develop the cattle-raising industry and get rich together.
