Changjiang, Hainan: "Gold-Rush" Wild Boars Pave the Way Out of Poverty

Recently, the special wild boar breeding poverty-alleviation demonstration base in Tangfang Village, Shiyuetian Town, Changjiang Li Autonomous County, was completed and put into operation.

According to reports, this breeding demonstration base is the 5th breeding base put into operation under the "company + cooperative + farmer" model since the county introduced the special wild boar breeding industry, helping local villagers use the special wild boar industry project to achieve poverty alleviation and prosperity as early as possible.

The land used for the base consists of 47 mu of collectively transferred land from 205 farming households in Tangfang Village, including 75 impoverished households and 50 households with disabled members. The county government invested 5 million yuan to build supporting facilities for the base, which is designed to reach an annual output of 3,800 head. At present, the base has introduced its first batch of 300 piglets, and the number of animals raised will continue to increase.

Lin Dong, secretary of the Changjiang County Party Committee, said that Changjiang will adapt measures to local conditions and guide development according to circumstances, combine its own resource advantages, actively introduce and develop efficient industrial projects, and use this as an important lever to lead farming households out of poverty toward prosperity, laying a solid foundation for fully building a moderately prosperous society.
