Raising chickens under the forest canopy dug up the "first bucket of gold"

Zhu Jianhua, from the Kuangtian Villager Group of Bali Village, Yayi Town, Mojiang Hani Autonomous County, Yunnan, after graduating from a junior college in 2012, carefully analyzed and understood the state's support policies for rural areas and for college-student entrepreneurs, and resolutely chose to return to his hometown to join hands with his family in pursuing prosperity through entrepreneurship.

Through research on the surrounding markets, Zhu Jianhua further clarified his entrepreneurial approach and decided to take the path of green ecological development——raising chickens under the forest canopy. After discussing it with his family, he took out the family's savings to lease 500 mu of forest land, attended vocational training in chicken farming, applied for a college-student entrepreneurship loan, and after building chicken coops and other infrastructure, began his first round of breeding, with a scale of about 2,000 birds. At the same time, he hired two villagers to handle epidemic prevention, scientifically formulate feed, and carry out scientific feeding. Through half a year of scientific breeding, he earned his first bucket of gold from raising finished chickens under the forest canopy.

At present, Zhu Jianhua's farm covers about 30 mu, with infrastructure construction valued at about 600,000 yuan, leased forest land of 1,000 mu, and a breeding scale maintained at more than 10,000 chickens. Each year he sells 3—4 batches of chicks or finished chickens, including more than 10,000 chicks and more than 20,000 finished chickens. They are mainly sold to Simao urban area, Lancang County and other places, and the annual net profit can reach more than 430,000 yuan. At the same time, he has driven 20 villagers into employment, 7 of whom are long-term contract workers. He has truly become a leader in escaping poverty and achieving prosperity.
