Dafangzi Village, Xinbin County, Liaoning Province: Nongjiale Brings Joy to Farming Families

Dafangzi Village is located in Xinbin Manchu Autonomous County, Fushun City, Liaoning Province, adjacent to the 4A-level Houshi National Forest Park. The village has 115 households, and per capita arable land is less than 1.2 mu, with "poor land and poor people" having long been a stubborn problem that was hard to break. In recent years, relying on the development of the local tourism industry, the whole of Dafangzi Village has gone all out in a vigorous pursuit. Nearly 1/5 of the households have opened nongjiale, with annual income reaching more than 100,000 yuan at the high end and 70,000 to 80,000 yuan at the low end. Dafangzi Village has also transformed from a typical poor mountain village into a demonstration village for rural tourism development.

At present, Dafangzi Village receives 150,000 tourist visits a year, and comprehensive tourism revenue has reached 60 million yuan. To prevent vicious low-price competition, the village also spontaneously established a nongjiale industry association. After several years of exploration, the industry operation and management level of the village's nongjiale has been continuously improved. In the past two years, the village has also been awarded "Rural Women's Tourism Demonstration Site" and "China Rural Tourism Gold Medal Nongjiale," and "Dafangzi Village" has become a famous rural tourism calling card in Liaoning Province.

Jiang Yanmei, director of the Xinbin County Tourism Bureau, said: "The development of Dafangzi Village has shown us a path that can be replicated. In recent years, we have clarified the development goal of 'promoting agriculture through tourism, assisting agriculture through tourism, and enriching farmers through tourism,' and are promoting the upgrading and transformation of Dafangzi Village from a single type of nongjiale to comprehensive experiential products." It is understood that last year the local government integrated 10 million yuan in funds from various departments to widen rural roads, reinforce river embankments, and unify the style of gray brick and tile houses. Next, Dafangzi Village will also focus on developing Manchu cultural and customs products, holding folk activities, and deeply cultivating Manchu township culture.

Now, strolling through Dafangzi Village, one sees that amid the surrounding mountains, two rows of nongjiale courtyards with Manchu style are built along the street, an artificial stream flows gracefully past the front of each home, and laughter keeps drifting out from the farmyards behind wooden fences...
