Qinhuangdao village-stationed working group guides farmers to develop rural tourism and get rich
"Our village not only has beautiful scenery, but also abundant local products - apples, peaches, pears, chestnuts, we have them all. We welcome everyone to recommend more friends to come and visit our village!" On August 5, firecrackers crackled in Pingfangzi Village, Pingfangzi Township, Qinglong Manchu Autonomous County, Qinhuangdao, as Haixia Farmhouse and Jingjing Farmhouse opened for business at the same time, becoming a great event for the whole village.
In opening a farmhouse restaurant, Zhang Haixia, the owner of Haixia Farmhouse, had had misgivings - afraid there would be no tourists, afraid the food would be too ordinary, and even more afraid of losing money. However, a month earlier, members of the working group stationed in Pingfangzi Village by the Municipal Health and Family Planning Commission had led villagers to Baozigou Village in Lulong County for a visit and inspection, which completely dispelled Zhang Haixia's misgivings. "Our village has both green mountains and clear waters, and fruit picking as well - no worse than Baozigou," Zhang Haixia said. "Being able to make this change in my thinking is all thanks to Liu Dongqing, the village's first secretary."
At the construction site of the village pig farm, the reporter met Liu Dongqing, head of the municipal Health and Family Planning Commission's village-stationed working group and the village's first secretary. Liu Dongqing, whose skin was tanned dark by the sun, explained that the pig farm plans to market 2000 pigs a year, and the piglets will be released into the mountains to be raised free-range, so the flavor will certainly be even more delicious.
"Our village currently has 318 registered poor households with 878 poor people, of whom 63 have lost the ability to work, and 815 have the ability to work but lack a path to prosperity." When it came to the basic situation of Pingfangzi Village, Liu Dongqing knew it like the back of his hand.
"As soon as Secretary Liu arrived, he helped 12 young people in the village find employment in the city. The main reason those who have the ability to work remain poor is that they are unwilling to leave the village and do not want to go out to work." Li Juzhong, the Party branch secretary of Pingfangzi Village, who was standing nearby, stated the root cause of poverty in the village bluntly.
Since being stationed in the village in February this year, centering on "shaking off poverty" and "increasing income," especially shaking off poverty within the village, Liu Dongqing has racked his brains almost endlessly. After repeated investigation and planning, the village-stationed working group finally determined six targeted poverty alleviation measures, including industrial planning, rural fruit picking, medical care, and infrastructure construction, striving to enable villagers to "shake off poverty and become prosperous without going out to work."
"The breeding industry carries great risk, and the village roads have long been in disrepair, seriously affecting the large-scale development of the breeding industry. The village currently has more than 4500 mu of forest and fruit industry, and the planting industry is almost at saturation point," Liu Dongqing explained. In order to break through the village's difficulties, after many trips to inspect surrounding counties and villages, the working group decided to rely on Pingfangzi Village's fine natural environment to develop rural tourism integrating mountain climbing, fruit picking, fishing, leisure, and farmhouse dining, so that villagers can become prosperous within the village without going out to work.
The reporter followed Liu Dongqing to the irrigation reservoir under construction in the village. The reservoir is located in a mountain hollow in Qingyi Gully of Pingfangzi Village. The air in the hollow is fresh, the vegetation on both sides of the hollow is lush and green, and mountain springs gurgle down over the rocks - truly a great place for leisure tourism.
In order to promote the upgrading of the whole village's planting industry, Liu Dongqing introduced higher-standard 1000 mu of apples, 500 mu of walnuts, and 100 mu of pears, and also encouraged veteran growers to develop fruit-picking operations. "We only knew how to work hard with our heads down, and the price of forest fruits basically depended on the market. Without Secretary Liu, we really wouldn't have known that we could do fruit picking here too," fruit grower Du Qingxue told the reporter. "The walnuts are about to ripen, and several groups of people have already booked walnut-picking visits."
At noon, the reporter and Liu Dongqing went together to Jingjing Farmhouse. "From the kitchen to the dining room, from hygiene to the menu, it was all done under Secretary Liu's guidance," said the proprietress Yuan Lijuan, her face full of joy.
The atmosphere inside the house was even more heated than the temperature outside, and the dishes on the table were both sumptuous and full of Manchu township flavor. steamed potatoes, stewed eggs, boiled corn, poplar buds, old tofu, Manchu-style braised pork, cold oil noodles... These home-style dishes on rural tables in Qinglong made every city tourist's appetite surge, and the guests' hearty eating also filled Yuan Lijuan with confidence in her future life.
