Fruit industry in Sitang Town, Pingguo broadens villagers' path to prosperity
In recent years, with economic development, a single industrial structure can no longer meet market demand. Based on actual conditions, Sitang Town in Pingguo County promptly adjusted its agricultural industrial structure, taking the creation of a "hometown of fruit" as an industrial driver to solve the bottleneck problems constraining people's development and promote increased income and prosperity for the people.
Ten thousand mu of grapes take the leading role. With the help of the "Ma-Si-Po" agricultural tourism project, the town has implemented a ten-thousand-mu grape industry, with a fruit corridor as the main line, striving to build a "grape town." Through vigorous investment promotion and technological guidance, it has achieved goals including large-scale planting and comprehensive improvements in yield and quality. It has formed more than 23 demonstration bases of over one hundred mu of grapes each, with a cumulative planting area of over 13,000 mu and an annual output value exceeding one hundred million yuan, promoting agricultural efficiency and increasing farmers' income.
The citrus industry has achieved leapfrog development. Following grapes, the town's citrus planting has developed rapidly, mainly featuring varieties such as Shatang Mandarin, Shuimi Mandarin, Wogan, and Gumao Mandarin, gradually spreading from along the roads of Mingjiang, Longpan, Yinshan, and Anbang to other villages and hamlets, with the town's fruit planting coverage increasing year by year. According to statistics, as of now, the town's citrus planting area is over 6,800 mu, with over 4,000 mu bearing fruit this year, accounting for 58.8% of the total area, with noticeably improved economic benefits.
The fruit industry is developing strongly. The town continuously explores varieties suitable for local fruit planting, comprehensively improves the fruit planting structure, and ensures that fresh fruit is available on the market in every season. While highlighting the main industry, it has completed the planting target of 4,000 mu in total of Sanhong Honey Pomelo, Dragon Fruit, Large Green Jujube, and Passion Fruit, and has successively established 5 county-level demonstration bases for Sanhong Honey Pomelo, Dragon Fruit, Large Green Jujube, and others, of which 3 serve as key learning and practical training bases for the town-level agricultural school, meeting the people's needs for learning and training.
