One grouper brings in 360,000 yuan a year

The largest grouper here weighs more than 200 kg; one fish can lay 5 to 6 kg of eggs a year, and a kilogram of eggs sells for 60,000 yuan, so a single fish brings in 360,000 yuan a year. In the grouper farming workshop, the reporter saw groupers of different sizes kept in different ponds, some about one kilogram and others tiny fry.
Beside one pond, You Wanghai stopped and pointed at a grouper, saying: “Guess how many kilograms this one is?”
Seeing the reporter shake his head, You Wanghai smiled and continued: “This grouper weighs 85 kg (as shown in the photo), and we have raised it for 8 years. In my farming base there are more than 30 groupers weighing over 50 kg, and the largest weighs more than 200 kg and has been raised for 10 years. These fish are not for sale; they are kept to lay eggs. They are all my treasures, the guardian treasures of the house.”
Hongsheng's farming base is in the Jingdao Marine Fishery (Core) Demonstration Zone. It has a history of more than 30 years in developing the farming industry locally, with advanced farming technology, but it has never forgotten its corporate social responsibility. Since the beginning of this year, through the “company + base + farmers” assistance model, the company has provided targeted support to impoverished villagers. Villagers without funds can first collect fry and feed from the base, the company follows up with technical guidance, and then buys back the harvest in a unified way, joining hands with villagers on the road to prosperity.
