Zhang Zhichuang and Ma Yanhong of Xiaofengshan Village, Huguan County, Changzhi City, Shanxi, are a "post-80s" couple. In 2007 they returned to their hometown to start a business and set up a chicken farm. After succeeding, they founded Shanxi Siyu Agricultural Products Development Co., Ltd., registered the "Siyu" trademark, and sold free-range eggs online to large cities such as Taiyuan, Beijing and Guangzhou. In recent years, they have led more than 50 large farming households nearby to raise over 100,000 free-range ecological chickens. The annual output value has reached more than 15 million yuan, making them well-known leaders in becoming rich through chicken farming.
Arriving at Shanxi Siyu Agricultural Products Development Co., Ltd. in Xiaofengshan Village, Changping Development Zone, Huguan County, you can see colorful free-range chickens enjoying themselves in the woods. Some are "strolling leisurely", some are "singing loudly", and some are looking down to forage...
Speaking of ecological free-range chicken farming under the forest, company general manager Zhang Zhichuang beams with smiles: "Raising chickens under the forest has so many benefits. Not only does it improve space utilization, but the main thing is that the trees can provide shade and shelter from rain for the farmed chickens, and the chicken manure can provide organic fertilizer for the trees. During the day, the chickens are allowed to peck for natural feed such as small insects and weeds under the trees and move freely, and in the evening they are shut into the pens. This feeding method not only reduces costs for feed and disease prevention, but the chickens also get sick less often, grow quickly and bring high returns. Moreover, the chicken manure also provides fertilizer for growing vegetables, so it achieves multiple benefits in one go."
