Just how great is the value of a single sheep? Selling sheep alone is subject to market fluctuations, with prices rising and falling; even at their highest, they never exceeded 1,000 yuan. Yangyang Animal Husbandry is a leading enterprise mainly engaged in Sonid cut and packaged frozen and chilled mutton products, as well as cooked beef and mutton products and snack foods. According to Guo Mu, director of the park, the banner has basically formed an integrated full-industry-chain cashmere and wool industry covering “collection, washing, carding, dyeing, weaving and garment making.” The banner's 32 cashmere and wool enterprises can annually process 15,000 tons of scoured wool and 4,668 tons of carded sheep cashmere and goat cashmere, with more than 70 product types, sold far away to Beijing, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Hebei, Ningxia as well as Europe, the Americas, Oceania and other regions, with 4,600 employees.
“One sheep produces an average of 50 jin of mutton and 2 jin of cashmere. At 25 yuan per jin of mutton and 200 yuan per jin of cashmere, meat and cashmere alone can create an output value of 1,650 yuan,” Guo Mu said.
In July this year, Sonid Right Banner officially signed a cooperation agreement with the Mongolian Wool Association. Besides mutton and cashmere being able to create high output value, sheepskin can be made into exquisite leather bags, and even sheep manure is a treasure that can be made into organic fertilizer and sold abroad for 800,000 yuan per ton.
In the product showroom of Xinyuan Leather Factory, there are all kinds of leather bags, handbags and belts, all made from local sheepskin and cowhide, with exquisite craftsmanship and novel styles. The company has signed supply contracts with many companies in Guangdong and other places. In the factory workshop, female workers skillfully make bags at sewing machines. They are all locals, with monthly incomes of 2,000 to 3,000 yuan. It is understood that here, one sheepskin can make 4 leather bags, each selling for 800 yuan, creating an output value of 3,200 yuan.
In the first half of this year, 57 enterprises in the park started production, with an output value of 4.13 billion yuan, among which 32 cashmere and wool processing enterprises reached an output value of 1.68 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 31.2%; 12 meat processing enterprises reached an output value of 410 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 13.9%.
