Village Officials: A Couple Jointly Composing a New "Dream of the Butterfly Lovers"
Peng Hua, 28, and Lü Manman, one from Shaanxi and the other from Henan, came to the same place, joined hands to start a business together, and as a couple fulfilled a new "Dream of the Butterfly Lovers."
In July 2012, after graduating from Northwest A&F University, Peng Hua volunteered to take root in the countryside and came to Sucheng District, Suqian City, Jiangsu Province, to serve as a college-graduate village official. While doing his village official work well, he took the lead in starting a business and founded the Guye Butterfly Studio, with traditional Chinese butterfly specimens and butterfly-wing paintings as its main products, while also offering customized and rental butterfly exhibits, private customization of butterfly craft gifts, butterfly science popularization and art exhibitions, and customized butterfly teaching supplies, among other specialty services.
Two years later, Peng Hua's girlfriend Lü Manman, after graduating with a master's degree from Northwest A&F University, followed Peng Hua and also came to Shuangzhuang Town, Sucheng District, to become a college-graduate village official. She named the crafts she processed and made for Peng Hua "Guye Butterfly Artworks," applied for a registered trademark for the products, and also took out her own 30,000 yuan in "nest-egg savings," put "Guye Butterfly Artworks" onto the internet, opened 2 online stores on Taobao and Alibaba, and creatively launched a butterfly specimen rental business on Taobao. Now the Taobao store has already gained some fame, accumulated many loyal customers, and has a monthly transaction volume of more than 30,000 yuan, making it a leader among butterfly specimen online stores.
The tiny butterfly fulfilled Peng Hua and Lü Manman's entrepreneurial dream and also fulfilled their dream of love. Their Guye Butterfly Studio has grown from small to large, expanding from less than 10 sq m at the beginning to nearly 100 sq m now, and has settled in the Gengche Town Entrepreneurship Incubation Center. The two have repeatedly been rated by relevant departments at the two levels of Suqian City and Sucheng District as Youth Entrepreneurship Stars and Advanced Individuals in Entrepreneurship and Employment, and "Guye Butterfly Artworks" was also rated as an "Outstanding Entrepreneurship Project of Jiangsu Province College Students." The couple has just obtained their marriage certificate, is preparing to settle down in Suqian, and will hold their wedding at the end of the year. Lü Manman said: "The good dream has only just begun."
