South American white shrimp farming enriches farmers in Guangshan

On August 31, farmer Chen Yuanliang of Sanliqiao Village, Zishui Subdistrict Office, Guangshan County, was catching South American white shrimp in his shrimp fields to sell in Hefei City, Anhui Province.

After making his fortune in the large-scale catering business, Chen Yuanliang did not forget his fellow villagers. In February this year, he invested 6.8 million yuan in Zhaihe Town and Xianju Township of the county to contract 420 fields and ponds, and introduced South American white shrimp seedlings from Haikou City, Hainan Province for farming. Now the South American white shrimp have matured and gone on sale. This year's output of South American white shrimp is expected to be more than 10 kg, and the products are sold to major cities such as Zhengzhou, Hefei and Nanjing. This year's net income will reach 1.9 million yuan, and it can help 26 poor households escape poverty and become prosperous by farming South American white shrimp.
