Raising meat donkeys in a niche market with clever tactics, forging a new path to prosperity
Wang Guoping, who has been engaged in the breeding industry for more than 18 years, relies on his many years of breeding experience in Beijing, insists on combining a base with farming households, and builds an industrial chain integrating planting and breeding, deep processing of products, and sales. Keeping pace with the development of modern animal husbandry, in early 2016 he returned to his hometown and began his own path to prosperity by raising donkeys.
"Donkey hide can be made into ejiao, and there are many buyers, and the price is not low either. Donkey meat is warming and tonifying, regardless of the season; donkey bones can be used both for traditional Chinese medicine and to make bone meal. The whole donkey is a treasure." Wang Guoping introduced the advantages of donkey meat with great enthusiasm. In his donkey pen, meat donkeys of different sizes were either burying their heads in eating grass or leisurely basking in the sun.
"The Guohua Family Ranch breeding farm covers an area of 3000 sq m, with an investment of 410,000 yuan, used for infrastructure construction and the purchase of feed, etc. Meat donkeys mainly eat millet straw. Concentrated feed is 3000 yuan per ton. The donkeys raised to maturity are mainly sold to the Shunyi breeding base." Wang Guoping said.
Up to now, there are already 20 meat donkeys, 2 of which are black-headed stud donkeys. When talking about the next step in development, Wang Guoping said full of confidence: "Now the funds are gradually turning over. I will strive to increase the number to 130 by the end of the year and do an even better job in meat donkey breeding."
