Agricultural Product Price Analysis:
According to price monitoring of 49 kinds of vegetables by the market information center, most vegetables maintained an upward trend in August 2016, with an average first-grade wholesale price of 3.27 yuan/kg, up 10.47% month-on-month from 2.96 yuan/kg; down 12.57% year-on-year from 3.74 yuan/kg. In August, the wholesale prices of 36 kinds of vegetables rose, while 13 kinds fell.
Among the vegetables that rose, lettuce and cauliflower increased by more than 100%, rising from 1.50 yuan and 1.04 yuan per kg to 4.22 yuan and 2.08 yuan respectively, with increases of 181.33% and 100% respectively. In addition, bok choy, spinach, garland chrysanthemum, Chinese cabbage, green pepper, leafy lettuce, zucchini, mushroom and cabbage rose by more than 50%, with increases of 97.10%, 77.11%, 70.04%, 68.89%, 61.22%, 60.0%, 52.0%, 51.47%, 50.0% respectively; the remaining vegetables rose within the range of (3.0—47.46%).
The vegetables that fell were mainly millet pepper, sweet potato, wild rice stem, eggplant and winter melon, falling from 10.90 yuan, 3.77 yuan, 8.39 yuan, 1.74 yuan and 0.85 yuan per kg to 5.10 yuan, 1.95 yuan, 5.35 yuan, 1.11 yuan and 0.59 yuan respectively, with declines of 53.21%, 48.28%, 36.23%, 36.21% and 30.59% respectively; the other vegetables that fell also included king bean, lotus root, potato, golden squash, pumpkin, onion, red pepper and long bean, with declines of 28.89%, 18.0%, 14.77%, 10.81%, 8.75%, 6.31%, 4.30% and 2.67% respectively.
In August, the supply of local open-field vegetables was nearing its end, and vegetables from other regions began to be marketed in large quantities. Coupled with the holiday effect of the "Mid-Autumn Festival", vegetable prices are expected to rise slightly.
The sales price of pork this month continued to remain unchanged at a high level, with a wholesale price of 24.8 yuan per kg and a retail price of 27 yuan per kg. Beef prices continued to remain stable, with a wholesale price of 52 yuan per kg and a retail price of 54 yuan per kg. Mutton prices fell somewhat in the first ten days of this month and remained stable later, with the current wholesale price maintained at 48 yuan per kg and the retail price at 50 yuan.
As the 15th day of the eighth lunar month approached, the price of eggs, the main raw material for mooncakes, soared this month, with the wholesale price rising from 6 yuan per kg to 8 yuan, and currently basically maintained at 8 yuan per kg. The average wholesale price of eggs this month was 7.04 yuan/kg, up 11.39% month-on-month from 6.32 yuan/kg, and down 14.04% year-on-year from 8.19 yuan/kg.
