Walnut Hometown Seizes Internet Plus E-commerce Opportunity to Escape Poverty and Grow Rich
Xinhua News Agency, Lanzhou, September 9 (Reporter Ye Haoming) - In the vast townships and villages of China, e-commerce is developing rapidly. On the 8th, the "2016 Gansu Longnan Chengxian Walnut Production and Sales Matchmaking Trade Fair and County-Level E-commerce Ecosystem Co-construction Forum" held in Chengxian, Longnan, Gansu, was one such example.
With the theme of "Firmly Seizing the 'Internet Plus' Opportunity, Going All Out to Build China's Walnut Hometown, and Focusing on Building a County-Level E-commerce Ecosystem," this festival and conference revolved around co-building a county-level e-commerce ecosystem full industry chain, strengthening and optimizing the walnut industry, developing under-forest economy, building a walnut marketing platform, achieving close matching of walnut production and sales, and promoting increased efficiency of Chengxian walnuts and increased income for farmers.
According to reports, in recent years, Longnan has always regarded the walnut industry as an important pillar industry for the masses to escape poverty and grow rich. The city's walnut base area has reached 4.1 million mu, with 10.28 million trees grafted and improved. It is estimated that this year the city's walnut output will be 116,000 tons and output value 2.32 billion yuan. At the same time, Longnan has actively implemented the "Internet Plus" action, with online stores achieving cumulative sales revenue of 4.35 billion yuan, driving employment for 57,000 people, and exploring a new path for developing agricultural product e-commerce in impoverished areas.
In addition, Chengxian has been committed to solving the problems of difficult sales of agricultural products and farmers' inability to increase income despite increased production. Since 2013, Chengxian has used "micro-media marketing" as its main means and walnut online sales as its breakthrough point, using new media to develop rural e-commerce, and has explored a "six-in-one" rural e-commerce development path of government promotion, social participation, association leadership, market advancement, financial support, and media assistance, as well as an e-commerce poverty alleviation path of "five poverty-driving channels": online stores, information, employment, platforms, and projects.
It is understood that during this festival and conference, activities such as the Walnut Production and Sales Matchmaking Fair and Signing Ceremony, and the Walnut Industry (Under-Forest Economy) Development and Agricultural Product Brand Building Forum will also be held.
