Raising Pheasants on a Hillside, Young Man Weaves His Dream of Prosperity

On the hillside, large nets cover the treetops. Walking closer, one finds brightly feathered pheasants eating and chasing each other... On September 5, a reporter in Hongxing Village, Chadian Town, Linzhou City, saw the young man Yin Guangqing busy working at his hillside farm. He used to work away from home, but this year he built a pheasant farm on the hillside and began weaving his dream of prosperity.

On the hillside east of Hongxing Village, Chadian Town, Linzhou City, passersby can hear the constant crowing of pheasants from afar. Entering the pheasant farm, the first thing that comes into view is the overwhelming nylon netting spread through the woods, with large nets covering the treetops. Brightly feathered pheasants chase one another or stand quietly at rest, and when they spot someone in the distance they scatter in a flurry...

The owner of the farm is Yin Guangqing, a young man from the village. A dream of raising pheasants from years ago gave him the inspiration to start a business. Pheasants, also known as ring-necked pheasants, seven-colored golden pheasants, and mountain chickens, are valuable game birds that combine meat, ornamental, and medicinal uses. Pheasant farming is a good project for making money and has already been popularized and developed in many places in our country.

He acted as soon as he made up his mind. Yin Guangqing looked up information online and read professional books on pheasant farming. Since there were no pheasant-farming professionals locally, Yin Guangqing went elsewhere to inspect and learn. After many setbacks, Yin Guangqing purchased his first batch of breeding pheasants from Zhengzhou and set up his own pheasant farm. After buying the breeding pheasants, Yin Guangqing converted the village's former pigpen into a chicken house, and next to it enclosed an area with nylon netting as a place for the pheasants to move around. After gradually becoming familiar with pheasant-farming methods, Yin Guangqing found that raising pheasants is actually not very different from raising domestic chickens; both are fed corn, wild vegetables, and tree leaves. Under his careful care, the flocks of pheasants at the farm gradually grew their wings and feathers, and each five-colored pheasant held its head high and chest out like a proud general.

"When raising pheasants, there is one issue that requires special attention: roosters and hens must absolutely not be placed in the same enclosure. Because roosters are aggressive, and with the slightest carelessness they will peck and injure the hens, causing serious losses." When introducing his experience in raising pheasants, Yin Guangqing said that whether in appearance or meat quality, roosters are more popular than hens. Roosters have red combs, white neck rings, beautiful tails, and very smooth feathers all over their bodies. Because our city does not yet have a well-developed pheasant sales market, most of the pheasants raised by Yin Guangqing are sold to other places, and the market prospects are broad. Speaking of his future plans, Yin Guangqing told the reporter that he will continue to expand the site, increase the breeds he raises, establish an e-commerce platform, and at the same time introduce technology to turn his pheasant farming into a complete market chain, leading more people onto the road to prosperity. On the journey of entrepreneurship, Yin Guangqing has only just started. The small seven-colored pheasants are weaving his dream of prosperity.
