What support do the "Grain Kings" need? Providing good service and support for the champion grain growers
The "Grain Kings" of Jiangsu have united and taken action! Natural disasters are not frightening, for the sky has its clear and cloudy days; price drops are not frightening, for prices rise and fall. What is frightening is a collapse of confidence, a failure to recover. The "Grain Kings" of Jiangsu do not wait or rely on others; they build confidence, rely on collective wisdom, and do their utmost, joining hearts, joining forces, and acting in concert to overcome difficulties together and seek strategies to reach new heights. Admirable and praiseworthy!
The "Grain Kings" have taken action, but the rise and fall of the grain industry, which bears on the national economy, people's livelihood, and the peace and stability of the realm, certainly cannot rely on the strength of the "Grain Kings" alone. Some contradictions and problems, links and environments, cannot be resolved and optimized by the efforts of the "Grain Kings" alone. Should we not consider what else needs to be done for the "Grain Kings" and for the many more grain producers and operators? For example --
Regarding the current predicament faced by large-scale grain growers of a high proportion of substandard grain, how can we, like the Jiangsu grain authorities, do everything possible and tirelessly screen more, make door-to-door selections, help find buyers, and help find sellers? Many "Grain Kings" engaged in large-scale planting share a common understanding: when the degree of scale is matched by the degree of agricultural mechanization and specialized services, diseases are milder, grain quality is better, and grain prices are higher. In grain production, how can all localities, like the Jiangsu agricultural authorities, make the greatest effort to combine agricultural technology, agronomy, and agricultural mechanization, and to the greatest extent reduce losses, lower costs, and increase income through technical means? Also, how exactly should our agricultural insurance policies be improved and perfected so that disaster-affected farmers no longer "quench their thirst by gazing at plums"? Which clauses need further refinement to lower the threshold for farmers, so that disaster-affected farmers no longer find it "impossible to get claims paid despite countless appeals"? How can our various subsidy policies be made more transparent and precise, tilted toward those who truly farm and grow grain, and achieve accessible and thorough information disclosure? In the improvement of grain, especially rice, quality and brand building, and in grain farmers' market expansion, what aspects should our governments at all levels and relevant departments still make up for and work on that they should do, could do, but have not done well?
General Secretary Xi Jinping said in his important speech at Xiaogang Village: "Deepening rural reform requires the linkage of multiple factors." The current phenomenon of "three quantities increasing together" in grain production and operation is, in the final analysis, a structural problem on the grain supply side, and even more a problem of multi-factor input and optimal allocation on the grain supply side. Whether the "Grain Kings" of Jiangsu can successfully and effectively develop the grain industry by uniting depends crucially on multi-factor linkage and whether optimal input allocation can be achieved. Among this, there is naturally much, and very important, work for the government and relevant departments to do.
The "Grain Kings" are waiting, and we are waiting too.
