Why agricultural subsidies cannot spur farmers' enthusiasm for planting

Motivating farmers' enthusiasm for growing crops has always been a very important issue. Nowadays, many farmers are no longer willing to farm at home; more of them choose to go out to work, which has left large tracts of rural land abandoned. Because the state attaches great importance to agriculture, in order to raise farmers' enthusiasm for planting, it has given farmers a great many subsidies, such as direct grain subsidies, subsidies for purchasing agricultural machinery, and so on. But although there are many agricultural subsidies, they are still hard-pressed to spur farmers' enthusiasm for agricultural planting.

Now the prices of all kinds of daily necessities are rising, while the prices of agricultural products have remained low. First of all, the prices of agricultural products have always been regulated by the market: when supply exceeds demand, the prices of agricultural products fall; when demand exceeds supply, the prices of agricultural products rise. Because farmers' awareness of the market economy is weak and they lack judgment about the market economy, this leads to unsold stocks of agricultural products, which is also a reason why agricultural products cannot fetch a good price.

Preferential policies for farmers have increased and subsidies have grown, but have farmers really received the subsidies? According to surveys, not every farmer has received subsidies. Because rural conditions are very complex, many farmers still need connections to get subsidies, and there are even people who originally should not have received subsidies but got them through connections. There are even cases where farmers' subsidies are fraudulently claimed and withheld by village cadres and township cadres, and such situations are very serious, which has also greatly damaged farmers' enthusiasm for planting.

The money given as subsidies to farmers is hard to put into farmers' pockets. Farmers toil for a whole year yet earn only meager profits, and when they encounter disasters and other problems they may even suffer losses. How can farmers still have the confidence to engage in agricultural planting? The income from farming for a year is less than one month of working away from home, so who would still farm at home? Therefore, to raise farmers' enthusiasm for planting, it is necessary to consider farmers in all aspects and consider their lives.
