Weihai: Strong sales of shellfish, shrimp prices fluctuate slightly

As if imperceptibly, tomorrow we will welcome the Autumn Equinox among the 24 solar terms. After the Autumn Equinox, cold air and rain activity will gradually become more frequent, as the saying goes, "Autumn wind mixed with autumn rain, the night grows cooler by a few degrees." The aquatic product market that first feels the chill of autumn is probably the freshwater fish market. As the weather turns cooler, prices of some varieties in the freshwater fish sector have declined somewhat, among them: live carp on the market is generally priced at 14-15 yuan per kg, live bighead carp at 16 yuan; live crucian carp generally at 30 yuan/kg; live grass carp at 15 yuan per kg. According to market dealers, most commercial fish in various producing areas have currently reached marketable size, and as the weather turns cooler, major freshwater fish producing areas have recently increased their catch, with market supply being relatively abundant; at the same time, due to falling temperatures, the cost of freshwater fish throughout the sales and transportation process has decreased somewhat, and losses have also been reduced. Stability with a slight decline will become the mainstream trend for freshwater fish prices in the period ahead.

Recently, the shellfish market as a whole has shown strong sales, with prices of major market varieties rising and falling, and the price of ark shells in the market continuing to remain firm. Currently, ark shell meat in the market is generally priced at 76-80 yuan per kg, and ark shells in the shell at 19-20 yuan/kg; the scallop market continues to be in a period of shortage between old and new crops, with market prices continuing to remain stable at a high level of 10-12 yuan per kg; short-necked clams in the market are priced at 6-8 yuan per kg, and oysters in the shell at 5-6 yuan per kg.

Right now is also the time when large quantities of whiteleg shrimp from northern producing areas are being harvested from ponds. Currently, whiteleg shrimp of 21-25 count in the market are priced at 56-60 yuan per kg; locally fresh spear shrimp at 66-70 yuan per kg, and local live mantis shrimp at 36-40 yuan per kg. It is learned from producing areas that due to the upcoming National Day, the overall shrimp price trend is stable with a slight rise, but the price increase is not large.
