Remembering comrades while getting rich, protecting ecology while developing
As an ordinary veteran, Zhang Anming of Liuguang Town, Xiuwen County has a different dream and pursuit. In his heart, getting rich must not mean forgetting to help his comrades, and development must also keep the ecological bottom line; he has made kiwifruit base planting the point of convergence on the road of development.
The story begins in 2002. Through doing temporary work and running a company, after more than ten years of hard struggle, Zhang Anming finally had his own engineering team, moving around the province contracting earth and stone projects, with an annual income of more than 200,000 yuan. Logically speaking, he had no worries about food and clothing, and had security for a comfortable old age, but there was always a worry in his heart: anxiety for comrades who had no means of livelihood.
"Seeing them struggle in life makes me feel bad. I just want to do something truly practical for them. What should I do? Plant kiwifruit," Zhang Anming said, and he did it as soon as he said it.
After market research, Zhang Anming finally decided to take a path of sustainable development - establishing a kiwifruit base in Xin Nongcun, Liuguang Town, his hometown, following the business path of "production, processing, sales," revitalizing and strengthening the Yanjiao Kiwifruit Planting Farmers' Professional Cooperative, and giving veterans and the surrounding people more opportunities for employment and entrepreneurship.
In the village where Zhang Anming lives, the ecological vegetation was originally good, and the forest coverage rate was high. According to relevant laws and regulations, kiwifruit planting bases are not allowed to occupy the original forest land. Zhang Anming and his comrades transferred a piece of uncultivated wasteland, plus some cultivated land suitable for planting kiwifruit. Last June, Zhang Anming's kiwifruit planting reached more than 100 mu, radiating and driving veterans and local people to plant 1,100 mu of kiwifruit.
In addition to contracting villagers' land, in order to help everyone get rich together and also solve the shortage of manpower in his own park, Zhang Anming also invited villagers to work for him. At present, 20 people have signed fixed labor contracts with Zhang Anming, and quite a few villagers have also come back to work short-term.
Getting rich must not mean forgetting to help comrades, and development must also keep the ecological bottom line. Zhang Anming put even more thought into this.
According to Zhang Anming, his kiwifruit park also raises 400 pigs, over a hundred chickens and geese. He plans to use livestock manure to fertilize the soil, which both saves costs and improves the quality of the kiwifruit. This way of cyclic regeneration and repeated resource use has already been widely promoted among their comrades.
Now, Zhang Anming is planning matters such as a kiwifruit deep-processing production line and building a cold storage facility, truly realizing a one-stop chain of "production, processing, sales." Zhang Anming said that development is needed, and ecology is needed too; neither can be abandoned.
