Yangcheng Lake hairy crabs hit the market in large numbers after October 1; pre-holiday prices are 10% higher than post-holiday prices
This year's Yangcheng Lake hairy crabs went on sale on September 23, after the Mid-Autumn Festival, later than in previous years. However, demand is relatively high, so sales during this period have still been quite brisk.
Shen Bin, store manager of the Hangzhou Wangshi Yangcheng Lake Hairy Crab Fengqi Road store, told reporters that Hangzhou has 17 stores, and even our flagship store sells out 600 jin a day.
Staff introduced that the best-selling items are 4-liang male crabs and 3-liang female crabs, both priced at 468 yuan per jin. If you choose the 8-crab combination package, it will be a bit cheaper, with a total price of 700 yuan. The most expensive items for sale are 5-liang male crabs and 3.5-liang female crabs, sold individually at 368 yuan each.
Compared with last year, Yangcheng Lake hairy crabs came on the market later and prices are slightly higher, which is related to the crabs maturing later and the smaller quantity. Shen Bin said: “Because of continuous high temperatures in July and August this year, and more rain in August, the crabs that came out of Yangcheng Lake at the end of September were all relatively tender, so the time when they truly mature will be about ten days later than last year.”
Staff expect that after October 1, Yangcheng Lake hairy crabs will hit the market in large numbers, and prices will also decline somewhat by then, with a drop of about 10%. If you are not in a hurry to get an early taste, after October 1 is a pretty good choice.
