Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, September 27 (dispatch) - The Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee held a meeting on September 27 to study major issues concerning comprehensive and strict governance of the Party. Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, presided over the meeting.
The meeting decided that the Sixth Plenary Session of the 18th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China will be held in Beijing from October 24 to 27.
The Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee listened to a report on the solicitation of opinions within a certain scope inside and outside the Party on the drafts of the "Several Guidelines on Political Life within the Party under the New Situation" and the "Regulations of the Communist Party of China on Internal Party Supervision," and decided that, after revisions based on the opinions discussed at this meeting, the draft documents would be submitted to the Sixth Plenary Session of the 18th Central Committee for deliberation.
The meeting held that the Party Central Committee solicited opinions within a certain scope inside the Party on the two draft documents for the plenary session in order to fully promote democracy, pool the wisdom of the whole Party, and build consensus throughout the Party so as to revise the draft documents well. All regions, departments, and sectors put forward many valuable opinions and suggestions. These opinions and suggestions reflect the understanding and thinking of all Party comrades on comprehensive and strict governance of the Party, strengthening and standardizing political life within the Party, and strengthening internal Party supervision, and are an important basis for revising the documents well. It is necessary to comprehensively sort them out, study them one by one, absorb as much as possible, and formulate the documents well, so as to provide correct guidance for strengthening and standardizing political life within the Party under the new situation and strengthening internal Party supervision.
The meeting stressed that historical experience shows that, as a Marxist party, our Party must take a clear stand in speaking politics and seriously carry out political life within the Party. To strengthen and standardize political life within the Party under the new situation, it is necessary to take the Party Constitution as the fundamental guideline, adhere to the Party's political line, ideological line, organizational line, and mass line, focus on enhancing the political nature, contemporary relevance, principle, and fighting spirit of political life within the Party, focus on enhancing the Party's ability to purify itself, improve itself, reform itself, and raise itself, focus on improving the Party's leadership level and governing level, enhancing its ability to resist corruption and prevent degeneration and withstand risks, focus on safeguarding the authority of the Party Central Committee, ensuring the Party's unity and solidarity, and maintaining the Party's advanced nature and purity, and strive to create throughout the Party a lively political situation that has both centralism and democracy, both discipline and freedom, and both unity of will and personal ease of mind.
The meeting held that internal Party supervision must respect the Party Constitution, govern the Party in accordance with regulations, adhere to combining internal Party supervision with supervision by the people, and ensure that the Party always remains a strong leading core of the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics. The task of internal Party supervision is to ensure the effective implementation of the Party Constitution, Party regulations, and Party discipline throughout the Party, safeguard the Party's unity and solidarity, and focus on solving problems such as weakened Party leadership, lack of Party building, inadequate comprehensive and strict governance of the Party, weak Party consciousness, loose organization, lax discipline, and loose and soft management and governance of the Party, ensure that Party organizations fully perform their functions and play a core role, ensure that all Party members play a vanguard and exemplary role, and ensure that Party leading cadres are loyal, clean, and responsible.
