Once a poor man, now a leader in getting rich
“15 yuan per kilogram, I sold all 1000 kilograms of walnuts, and made 3000 yuan on this trip, thank you so much!” On the evening of September 26, just as it got dark, Mamataili Matiturdi, a farmer from Tekaidun Village, Minfeng County, Hotan Prefecture, came to the residence of the working group of the Autonomous Region Quality and Technical Supervision Bureau stationed in Tekaidun Village on his electric bike before he had time to change out of his dust-covered clothes, and told everyone the good news.
No one could have imagined that this hardworking middle-aged man before them had been an idle loafer in the village, disliked by others, just one year earlier.
Mamataili, 40 years old this year, was once a famously poor household in the village; when the working group of the Autonomous Region Quality and Technical Supervision Bureau arrived in the village this year, they listed him as a key assistance target. When members of the working group first visited Mamataili's home, they found him stubborn in his thinking and lazy by nature, and quite resistant to the assistance work.
In order to change his mindset, members of the working group tirelessly went to his home again and again, and specifically formulated an assistance and transformation education plan tailored to his situation. The head of the working group, Tayir Silafuri, also took the initiative to pair up with him for assistance, and would go to his home to chat whenever he had time. After a while, Mamataili was willing to be friends with Tayir.
Mamataili appeared to idle away his days, but in fact he was very clever. This was what Tayir discovered after a period of contact. Tayir also noticed that Mamataili always mentioned his past breeding experience when chatting, and only then learned that Mamataili had rich breeding experience.
In May this year, Tayir coordinated with the working group to introduce 10000 high-quality breeding chicks for Mamataili, encouraging him to get rich by raising Niya black chickens, and helped him solve difficulties in feeding and sales.
Afterward, Mamataili and 13 other poor households in the village jointly invested as shareholders and established the Jinguan Poultry Breeding Professional Cooperative, with Mamataili serving as chairman. From then on, Mamataili and his wife worked from dawn to dusk every day, busy in the chicken coop all day. Lighting the fire, feeding, adding water, cleaning chicken manure…… the couple constantly observed the growth of the chicks.
Mamataili's days became fulfilling, and his face was covered with smiles all day long.
The chicks grew very well. In August this year, the Niya black chickens raised by Mamataili sold out completely, with a net profit of nearly 60000 yuan. Thirteen poor households were lifted out of poverty as a result, and Mamataili also changed from a poor man into a wealthy household in the village.
After seeing the change in Mamataili, the working group intentionally made him a leader in getting rich in the village. In order to help him expand production, the working group coordinated with the village committee to provide him with 5 mu of land, and the government and he personally jointly invested 300000 yuan to build a breeding farm capable of raising 10000 chickens, 200 sheep and 20 cattle at the same time. Subsequently, the working group also helped him introduce 5000 chicks and 10 Dutch dairy cows to expand breeding capacity. In this way, more than a dozen poor households in the village also joined the cooperative.
Now, from selling milk and yogurt alone every day, Mamataili has a substantial income. In addition, the walnuts he planted also had a bumper harvest this year. Mamataili thus became a well-known model of getting rich in Minfeng County.
On the afternoon of September 28, neatly dressed Mamataili had just returned from collecting accounts in Yutian County, and immediately went into the spacious and bright shed; he needed to hurry with his wife to feed the cattle and chickens in the pen.
In just a few months, Mamataili felt that he had face in the village. Every time the village held meetings or policy presentations and technical training, he actively participated, and he often exchanged breeding techniques with villagers. Neighborly relations were very harmonious, and his life returned to what it had been before.
Mamataili proudly told reporters that one month ago, he bought 1600 chickens from fellow villagers, and after raising them for a month, he resold them and made a net profit of 8000 yuan.
“Thanks to the working group, otherwise I would not be living such a good life.” Mamataili plans to continue expanding the scale of breeding on the premise of stable development of the breeding farm, and is preparing to learn online sales knowledge to sell the livestock and poultry from the farm to farther places.
